About the Item
This is a beautifully framed contemporary floral still-life oil painting of pink and white peonies in a sterling vase in a traditional style by Pennsylvania artist Sharon Henderson. The painting itself measures 14" x 10 and it is framed to 17.5" x 13.5" It is in a traditional brushed platinum finished wood frame with carved detailing. All hanging hardware is included, and the painting is ready to install. Subtly signed lower right.
Sharon Henderson’s work includes the traditional painting genres of landscape, still life, portraiture, and the figure. The focus of her training is modeled after traditional Italian Accademia and French Atelier schools, combined with the color language of the Impressionists. She studied at Studio Incamminati and Moore College of Art under internationally recognized and award-winning artists Jon DeMartin, Darren Kingsley, Steven Early, Kerry Dunn, Natalie Italiano, Leona Shanks, and ARC Living Masters Dan Thompson and Nelson Shanks. Her work can be found in corporate collections, college campuses, casinos, hotels, airports, and private collections.
Sharon teaches drawing and painting both privately and at the Wayne Art Center to students of all ages and all levels of skill and experience. Her teaching philosophy integrates the academic and spiritual importance of the creative process, and individualized curriculums reference noteworthy artists and influential artwork throughout history. This is an original still life interior painting of fruit (apples) with a geometric fractured composition. The artist made the painting one section at a time. When working on one section, the artist would block off the rest of the composition so the objects and background needed to be placed again. By building the composition this way, the background and table appear at different levels and the shapes don't quite align. These imperfections convey a sense of passing time. In each section, the tone of the light changes, and the shadows switch directions. The apples and geometric shapes were chosen as much for metaphorical value as for aesthetics. A seemingly simple arrangement in a familiar painting genre contains a depth of observation, artistic choices, and interpretation.
This painting is signed and dated on the back. Includes all hanging hardware and ready to install; no need for additional framing.
