About the Item
'Darklight' from Stephanie Peek, who makes her home in California, is beautifully rendered with a sense of depth, intellect, timelessness, and mystery. A dark and elegant floral wonder, reflecting the anxiety of abundance. Peek has floated tulips, roses and other flowers from 17th century still life paintings through the dark smoky atmosphere of her paintings of night gardens. The dramatic light and rich colors refer to the work of Dutch painter Rachel Ruysch. The softer, lighter paintings reflect the melancholy of early 18th century French painter Jean Antoine Watteau. Suspended in silence, flowers and leaves speak of fragile beauty and the ephemeral nature of worldly delights.
The original oil on canvas painting is wired and ready to hang and enjoy. Framing is not required
