About the Item

The Dogs of Sunset Los Angeles, California - 2023 52” x 66” Framed 71” x 92” Framed Edition of 12 "This photograph is a small love letter to the city of Los Angeles. For all its vapidity, superficialness and elaborate coffee orders, there is no denying its pre-eminence in the entertainment world. It is a place where creatives go to be challenged, humbled and occasionally propelled forward. As the comedian Steve Martin once said “the key is to be so good they can’t ignore you”. Sunset Boulevard is the spiritual heart of West Hollywood and that makes it one of the most famous stretches of road in the world. There are not many places where a road itself a tourist attraction is, but Sunset is exactly that. It is not just a perfunctory means of getting from A to B, it is a visual feast from the ground level tarmac to the Californian sky above. The enormous billboards that lean down from above create a two-sided amphitheatre that informs drivers of all that is present. I have long found a visceral connection with Sunset Boulevard. I would go as far as to say it might be my favourite stretch of road in the world. It is possibly a subconscious prompt to get better at what I do and never to accept the average. Hollywood destroys the mundane and the callow and that is no bad thing. This is a dog-eat-dog world and they certainly love their dogs in LA. There are more pet shops these days in the city than newsagents. One day, just before we were closing a section of Sunset Boulevard for a Sunday morning shoot, we were having lunch in Il Pastaio - my family’s favourite Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills - and our concentration on the menus was broken by the sight of three Pomeranian dogs arriving in their own scaled down Lamborghini. The only passengers were the dogs and it was being driven remotely down the street by their owner who was out of sight. Only in LA - we all thought - and I knew what needed to be done. It was time to rip up our plans for the Sunday and adapt. I to thank the dogs - Rocky, Apollo and Napoleon - for being so easy and gentle to work with. But most of all, I want to thank their owner Anne Frankel who is rightly so proud of her boys. She bought two of these dogs on the passing of her husband and I see the love they have for her and vice versa. They are adored by all who meet them. Only in LA, but it’s a beautiful world." - David Yarrow

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966, he is an internationally acclaimed fine art photographer and Europe’s best selling wildlife photographer. "My plan was to find a section of Sunset Boulevard emblematic of Hollywood - it needed to be familiar to all and have some depth. After a great deal of walking up and down, we chose a spot 200 yards east of the entrance to Chateau Marmont, because the billboards looking west were large and well positioned and the hotel and the hotel sign are so iconic. The bend in the road also helped give the frame a compositional balance that I could not find on other sections - such as Sunset Plaza. In my head it was always going to be a wide angle shot. To shut the road down meant shooting first thing on a Sunday morning - which worked as we knew the best light would be sunrise if we were shooting towards the Pacific. Equally, I did not want the sun to rise too much as it would be tough on both the wolf and the model’s eyes. Of course, the model was not your run of the mill model - it was Alessandra Ambrosio - one of the world’s most photographed women. She has a very special look and is so easy to work with. The photograph is as I wanted - very LA, very West Hollywood and jammed with reference points. It’s a little crazy, a little La La Land, but that was the goal. Most of all, to the best of my knowledge, it’s authentic. No one can try and copy it now. "Once Upon a Time...

"The Harley-Davidson is a heavy- weight brand - like Coke and Mc- Donalds, it was integral to the flourishing of the American Dream. The brand is emblematic of the post 1945 roll out of the US highway network that offered the American population the freedom to travel for travel’s sake. As Robert Louis Stevenson said: “I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” My preconception was that if we were to use Harley...

Skyfall in Black and White, Fine Art Photography 2025

A woman standing near a sportscar in classical Scottish attire was photographed by David Yarrow in 2025. All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. This stunning image by David Yarrow captures a dramatic, cinematic moment set against the rugged and breathtaking landscape of the Scottish Highlands. At the center of the composition is a silver Aston Martin DB5, an iconic vehicle synonymous with James Bond, parked on a remote, weathered road. The car’s sleek elegance contrasts with the raw, untamed surroundings, reinforcing the sense of adventure and espionage. To the left, a striking female figure is seen from behind, leaning on the car with one hand, while holding a small pistol in the other. She is dressed in a tweed blazer, a matching cap, and knee-high green boots, with bare legs adding a bold, provocative element. Her presence exudes power and intrigue, reminiscent of a classic Bond femme fatale. On the right side, a red British telephone booth...
