About the Item

Haaland Oslo, Norway - 2023 Sizes: Large - Edition of 20 Unframed 56" x 84" Framed 71" x 99" Standard - Edition of 20 Unframed 37" x 56" Framed 52" x 71" Artist Statement: "There is no more relevant footballer in the world than Erling Haaland and, given football’s global appeal, that makes him the world’s most relevant sportsman. Aged just 23, he also has many years ahead of him to continue to break goal scoring records at the same ferocious speed that has characterised his early career. He is a true one off and a global sensation. I was fortunate that through our deep ties in Norway, Erling was contacted and encouraged to spend some time with me during a recent international break in his home country. There are many people to thank that this collaboration finally took place, none, more so, than his father - Alfie - who warmed to the idea that we could take an image that would raise money for causes close to their hearts in Norway. I was mindful of what an opportunity this was and we worked on a narrative that would embrace Erling’s physical presence and distinctive Nordic look. It was not the hardest decision to play on a Viking theme, because it is difficult to think of another sportsman in the world who could wear that look more naturally. As we walked into the fjord that afternoon, we walked very gingerly - baby step by baby step - until he was waist deep, which of course is further out to sea than most. I had my moment and the light, as the low cloud cleared, was increasingly kind. Throughout the shoot, he was fully engaged and charming to all. I look forward to the reaction this photograph will receive and the monies it will raise in the next couple of years. I am very aware of the privilege bestowed upon me that Sunday in Oslo." - David Yarrow Bio: David Yarrow has built an unrivaled reputation for capturing the beauty of the planet’s remote landscapes, cultures and endangered animals. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966, he is now an internationally acclaimed fine art photographer and Europe’s best selling wildlife photographer. "In my deliberation over the Pirates in the Caribbean project, there were two overriding personal filters. The first was to avoid being formulaic and the second was my sense that it would be commercial suicide to be too earnest. Pirates are mythological figures and whilst what they did was very serious, I was only too aware of the dangers of us taking ourselves too seriously in any revisionist portrayal. We should have fun; just as Disney did with their blockbuster franchise. The pirates we had assembled in Anguilla looked the part and our giant canvas of the pirate boat offered the best context in the background. The key building blocks were in place on this set, we just needed ‘the x factor’. I played with half a dozen ideas to complete the story in the foreground and there was one concept that seemed to stand out - the arriving pirates must have an encounter. Encounters represent a dilemma for still photographers who can’t do “over the shoulder two takes”. We have the one chance and that tends to mean that we lose one face. But I saw how we could use that to our advantage in that anonymity might work if it told a story. Daniela Braga, the Brazilian Victoria’s Secret model and a sweetheart, was on set with us. She is smart, fun loving and she fully embraced the idea I had in mind. I think the photograph works well. As someone wryly said, those pirates who lost an eye must have been cursing themselves."

The waterfall is aesthetically without equal in Europe and the backdrop offers the chance of an arresting photograph, especially as the foreground gives a platform on which to add narrative. The waterfall itself is of little interest to me; it is photographed thousands of times a day by good photographers with good cameras. It must be used as part of the story, not the whole event. The riddle is how to manage the distance between the camera and the point of impact of the huge volumes of water that smash onto the ground. To work too close risks not just losing perspective, but having spray, quickly rendering the camera inoperable. To work further away is more practical, but then the distance compression can dumb things down and lose the sense of immersion and importantly the scale. We now know our spot and our lens choice, but this was the first time we had put it to the test in the snow, when Skogafoss becomes a three-sided winter vortex; a bit like a deep freeze...

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966, he is now an internationally acclaimed fine art photographer and Europe’s best selling wildlife photographer. "Developing a concept that ticks the boxes creatively and then executing that concept are emphatically two different jobs, which is why making a picture is a longer process than taking a picture. Many years ago, the exceptional work of British photographer Tim Flach, drew my attention to the hot springs of Myvatn in the north of Iceland. This remote area is geologically angry and in deep winter it is fairly inhospitable, but in the summer, it becomes something of a tourist resort for the local Icelandics and all too crowded for how we operate. We would always choose inhospitable over crowded. I have filmed here in the winter in the past, but struggled to do justice to the uniquely raw ecosystem. As always there is an element of knowing how to get it right by initially getting it hopelessly wrong. In particular, this is not a safe place without engaging locals, because the ground underneath, much like Yellowstone in Wyoming, is not to be taken for granted. To be brave and work close to the geysers needs permits and guides. But in 2022, we finally had our rewards. The weather plays such a big role in the field; no more so than up here at 66 degrees north where the Norse Gods granted my wish for strong winds and good light. It was the wind that amplified the trail of steam and allowed me to work a comfortable distance from the source without losing the effect. It was then up to me to work the strong late afternoon light to the best of my advantage. The end result is a strong image and certainly authentic. Its stripped back and visceral mood lives and breathes the wildest of Icelandic sagas. There are horse...

Skyfall in Black and White, Fine Art Photography 2025
By David Yarrow
Located in Vienna, AT
A woman standing near a sportscar in classical Scottish attire was photographed by David Yarrow in 2025. All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. This stunning image by David Yarrow captures a dramatic, cinematic moment set against the rugged and breathtaking landscape of the Scottish Highlands. At the center of the composition is a silver Aston Martin DB5, an iconic vehicle synonymous with James Bond, parked on a remote, weathered road. The car’s sleek elegance contrasts with the raw, untamed surroundings, reinforcing the sense of adventure and espionage. To the left, a striking female figure is seen from behind, leaning on the car with one hand, while holding a small pistol in the other. She is dressed in a tweed blazer, a matching cap, and knee-high green boots, with bare legs adding a bold, provocative element. Her presence exudes power and intrigue, reminiscent of a classic Bond femme fatale. On the right side, a red British telephone booth...
