About the Item
Papercute No.3 explores the sculptural qualities of light and shadow through delicately folded paper. The composition evokes a sense of movement, with fluid, organic curves resembling flowing fabric or undulating landscapes. The subtle tonal variations and crisp edges create an interplay of softness and precision, transforming an ordinary material into an abstract visual experience.
Created using a large format camera and traditional black and white film, this work reflects Ugne’s fascination with form, texture, and abstraction. Each print in this limited edition of 20 is hand numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The fine details and tonal depth are enhanced by Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper, ensuring the image’s rich texture and longevity.
Artist Biography:
Ugne is a Lithuanian fine art photographer based in London. Her work explores the relationship between nature, abstraction, and materiality, often transforming simple subjects into contemplative, sculptural compositions. Through analog processes, she captures light and shadow in ways that evoke a sense of timelessness and depth.

Ugne Pouwell is a fine art photographer originally from Lithuania. Today she makes most of her creative work in London, United Kingdom. Her main focus is black and white landscape and floral photography. Mainly using a large format 4x5 Linhof camera to express the timeless beauty of the subject in focus. Many of the influences come from 20th-century photography. She processes her work from start to finish: film processing, scanning and printing. Her work is mainly printed on the world's oldest paper-producing houses Hahnemühle (Germany) and Awagami (Japan) and some more exclusive work on organic linen and cotton fabrics. Paper and canvas choices are mainly based on organic feeling also adding more special feeling to her work. 2016 Ugne finished her BSc studies at University of Westminster Photography and Digital imaging technologies. Continuing her practice by applying scientific knowledge to her everyday work in fine art photography.
