Triptych Arcana 07, 08 and 09. Abstract color photograph
Located in Miami Beach, FL
Triptych Arcana 07, 08 and 09, 2023 by Monika Bravo From The Series Arcana Archival digital print Overall size: 24 in. H x 108 in. W Individual size: 24 in. H x 36 in. W "Arcana" stems as a series of unique studies for an upcoming commissioned glass/metal wall at the Interdisciplinary Engineering building at the University of Washington in Seattle. Whimsical elements in vibrant colors interact with geometric silhouettes, inspired by Oskar Schlemmer's Triad ballet and Josef Albers' pedagogical experiments from the Bauhaus era; they also incorporate historical engineering tools. ______________________ Bravo uses multiple treatments of the image, that the artist relates to a specific place, this correspondence between space and transformation has led her practice to focus on the analysis of the places where she lives physically and emotionally, as a result, the works dwell between the document and the anecdotal. Monika Bravo examines the notion of perception by questioning whether the world we live in, is but a mental construction; her artistic practice is used as a tool to decipher the laws that govern the world she lives in. Through this survey, she creates objects by incorporating still, moving, audio and interactive images to generate situations where she can materialize and communicate her emotional state. She wants to challenge the audience’s own perception of what they consider real by generating a platform where they are induced to connect by exploring, interacting, and at times by focusing on an object-place- scene for a duration of time in a manner that is both meditative and investigative. Monika Bravo is a multi-disciplinary artist born in Bogotá, Colombia, who lives and works in Miami. In 1982, Bravo left Bogotá, moving to Rome to study fashion design, which she continued in Paris at Esmod, before traveling to London to study photography. In 1994 she moved to New York. Her work has received acclaim including a 1999 New York Times review which called her piece Synchronicity (from a group exhibition at El Museo del Barrio) a "standout...small, beautifully blurry video images of boats plowing through New York Harbor..." Recent exhibitions: Rubin Museum, the power of intention, 56th Venice Biennale representing the Vatican City-State, at the Pavilion of the Holy See. TESSERAE curated by Octavio Zaya is shown at Flora Ars Natura, Bogota, and Johannes Vogt, NYC, Saro Leon, Gran Canaria. The Kitchen Drawer - An overwhelming source of detritus... everyday objects
Located in London, GB
The Kitchen Drawer Simply an overwhelming source of detritus... 'Detritus' series was born from the twin frustrations of lockdown halting all planned projects, yet litter still somehow being dropped in abundance on my street. With no idea of the final output, or indeed the hygiene implications, I started to collect, scan, and record what I found. When I realised these colourful misshapen objects could be turned into something beautiful, the frustrations left me and I began looking for other sources of Detritus. These collages gave me purpose during the pandemic and allowed me to grow something beautiful from a place of frustration. My aim is to simply give viewers of the work a fleeting moment of calm. Unable to shoot anything, I’ve been making collections of things I find on the ground and scanning them to create composite images of otherwise ignored or discarded objects." - George McLeod...

1991 "Gate" Large Scale Signed Vintage Silver gelatin Print Photograph
By Zeke Berman
Located in Surfside, FL
Gate Taught Version 1991. Large format silver gelatin photo. signed and dated. Zeke Berman’s still lifes are fabrications derived from the material of ordinary and intimate experience, reconstituted to satisfy the demands of improvised play, monocular vision, and the special characteristics of photographic description. They are concerned with the pictorial aspect of sculpture and the provisional nature of realistic indication. In the central tradition of still-life art, they aim to establish an unsuspected order in the congregation of unremarkable things. Since the late 1970's Zeke Berman has been making singular, studio-based photographs. These works reflect his long standing interest in visual cognition, optics and the intersection between sculpture, photography and drawing. The formal range of his work and his sculptural use of materials is varied, original and idiosyncratic. Berman’s work has been collected and exhibited in museums such as The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan, Whitney, Art Institute of Chicago and LA County Museum. His work was featured in the first New Photography Exhibition, 1984, at MoMA. Awards include Guggenheim, NEA and NYFA Arts Fellowships. Berman lives and works in New York City. from MOMA A World of Its Own: Photographic Practices in the Studio examines the ways in which photographers and other artists using photography have worked and experimented within their studios, from photography’s inception to the present. Featuring both new acquisitions and works from the Museum’s collection that have not been on view in recent years, A World of Its Own brings together photographs, films, and videos by artists such as Berenice Abbott, Uta Barth, Zeke Berman, Karl Blossfeldt, Constantin Brancusi, Geta Brătescu, Harry Callahan, Robert Frank, Jan Groover, Barbara Kasten, Man Ray, Bruce Nauman, Paul Outerbridge, Irving Penn, Adrian Piper...

Hsu Yun Chin is a multidisciplinary artist who holds a BA in Fine Art Photography from Emily Carr University and an MA from the Royal College of Art. She is a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and has had international exhibitions and publications. Her work mainly focuses on sculpture and photography and combines her technical skills with a natural creative ability to explore themes such as body sculpture, religion, culture, and philosophy to create a unique narrative and meaning in her symbolic and personal works. "The Barbican Centre of London photomontages by Hsu show no longer a space of unity and yet, we get lost in it. The carved self-portraits of Hsu are split up. Why do they have multiple faces? It looks like Hsu sees her breaks in the brutalist architecture of the Barbican, this huge complex of concrete and bricks, built in the 1980s, with such steep lines. Are the face we offer to ourself and the face we offer to others united and true? What and where is our real true face?" Alexandra Jaffré

Belgian-based Art Book Publisher Hsu Yun Chin is a multi-faceted Artist who lives and works in London. Her background is one that has been immersed in various art forms, most predominantly - though not exclusively - in Sculpture and Photography. Mixing this learned process of craftsmanship with a natural affinity, Hsu Yun Chin then seeks to segue initial intrigue and ongoing fascination of the process of creation into various artisan productivity. Beginning with her photographer’s perspective regarding the captured image of the object or still life in question, then exploring into other avenues of expression. The innovation is enhanced and influenced by many factors. These include ‘body sculpture’, religion, culture and philosophy. All of which brings to the fore a distinct narrative and reasoning for a more symbolic and personal body of work. Hsu Yun Chin holds a BA in Fine Art Photography from Emily Carr Art and Design University, Canada and an MA from the Royal College of Art, London. She is also a member of Royal British Society of Sculptors. Her works have been exhibited and published internationally. Measurement: 100X100cm This photograph is sold unframed.
