This view of the Pont de l'Université in Lyon, France, was taken from the roof of The Galerie Lafayette Department Store. The photograph is dated March 19, 1927.

About:
The University Bridge is a bridge in France located in Lyon and crosses the Rhône River. It was built on the site of a former ferry to serve the university buildings erected between 1876 and 1898. When the inauguration occurred in 1903, the structure was called the Pont des Faculties, but quickly, it was renamed the Pont de l'Université. Jean Résal, Paul Hinnovait, and Ernest Fabrègue are the engineers who worked on the bridge's design. The construction was carried out by the Société des Forges de Franche-Comté.
The bridge was damaged in 1944. A temporary wooden bridge was put in place. The bridge was definitively reopened in 1947. The bridge, 267.50 m long and 20 m wide, is made up of three metal arches cast in Longwy and resting on stone piles from Porcieu-Amblagnieu.
