About the Item

Pedestrian Dissonance London, 2018 The disparity in quality of life captured by Whitford in this image is captivating. To look at this image is to get the sense that this moment could happen anywhere at any time. This photograph is at the same time cheerful and melancholic, measuring the carefree nature of the women engaging with the dog against the disheartening and pleading stance of the homeless individual. The homeless figure takes on an almost religious connotation, his position not unlike that of an individual in prayer, meanwhile the women are unaffected by this pseudo-ritual. In Humanity, we want to draw parallels between human suffering and prosperity, and furthermore how some of these experiences do not touch everyone in the same manner. What might deeply affect one individual could be entirely meaningless to their neighbor–at what point, then, does human happiness or plight cross the bounds of shared experience? Limited edition graphic on Archival Canson Platine Fibre Rag paper. Signed and numbered by the artist. Edition size: 25 16" x 20" print Please inquire about other sizes and framing options. BIO: A gifted young street photographer, who just happens to be the son of Aerosmith’s rhythm guitarist, Brad Whitford, is set loose with the band. The result is a take on rock photography that blows through all the commercial conventions of hype-driven money shots. - Michael Weinstein, New City Art Zack Whitford is a documentary photographer based in Los Angeles. Before coming to California, he spent his early years in Massachusetts, as well as ‘on the road’ with his father, a member of the rock group Aerosmith.Zack’s career as a photographer began in 2011 when a hobby for the craft quickly transitioned into a full time job. His early work was purely freelance, focusing mainly on commissions and events. Eventually, he made his way into the music business where his work caught the attention of the member’s of Aerosmith and their management. Zack was reintroduced to the road-life but now as the Aerosmith’s official photographer. Artist Statement: "When I was much younger, and training to be a stage actor, my teacher said something once that has always stuck with me. He said: 'As actors, you are investigators of humanity.' I found that to be quite profound and something that rang true with me. Since, I've began my life as a photographer, photographing friends & complete strangers, the parallels between the art of acting and documentary photography have been obvious as both are about being completely in the moment. Whether I am making a portrait of a monk in Bhutan or of an American rock star on the side streets of Istanbul, the one absolute parallel in what I am trying to convey to the viewer is the simple humanity found in one's eyes, body language or facial expression. That unspoken sense of 'Here we are - all in it together." ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Recently, his work can be seen in Rolling Stone, Esquire, The Red Bulletin, New City Art & The Hollywood Reporter.

Untitled #6 (Man Regent St) from the series Eternal London is a Limited Edition Silver Gelatin print by Giacomo Brunelli. This size of 9" x 12" from a Limited Edition of 10. As the edition sells through, the print increases in price to reflect rarity. Giacomo Brunelli was commissioned by The Photographer's Gallery, London, to capture the heart of the capital city where he lives. Made over the course of 2 years, Eternal London takes Brunelli's distinctive film noir aesthetic to create an evocative and atmospheric view of London, full of powerful light and shadow work. Framed by boldly abstract silhouettes of people and animals, London's famous landmarks are presented in a less-than-obvious way, reflected in the puddles that typify English weather or looming as a mysterious structure in the background. Captured during daily morning walks, Brunelli randomly chose a person to follow before focussing his camera on them. Working discreetly, like early 20th century photographers such as Jacob Riis...
