About the Item

Ed. of 5, signed and includes black frame. Alison Jackson is a British artist who explores celebrity culture as created by the media and publicity industries. Jackson makes works about celebrities doing things in private by using lookalike models. Jackson is a contemporary BAFTA and multi award winning artist who explores the cult of celebrity – an extraordinary phenomenon created by the media,  publicity industries and the public figures themselves.  Her work sits squarely in the middle of the current fake news, alternative facts or news debates.  Likeness becomes real and fantasy touches on the believable. Jackson raises questions about whether we can believe what we see when we live in a mediated world of screens, imagery and internet. She comments on our voyeurism, on the power and seductive nature of imagery, and on our need to believe. Her work has established wide respect for her as an incisive, funny and thought-provoking commentator on the burgeoning phenomenon of contemporary celebrity culture.

The Paparazzi
By Debranne Cingari
Located in New York, NY
Ed. of 10, includes thin black frame. Debranne Cingari is a well-established American photographer and assemblage artist. Cingari is known for her explorative and boundary breaking artistic approach where she combines photographic images with assemblages of various artifacts. She often combines the two genres into text reliefs and cityscapes. With a background in photojournalism and a hobby of collecting random, assorted objects, Cingari introduces found items such as keys, locks, and book pages into her photographs, welding, drilling, screwing, gluing, and sewing them to the images. Such amalgamated compositions give new meaning to old objects...

The Queen

Joanne Tod (b.1953) is a renowned Canadian artist and a master of figuration. Tod has depicted a wide range of subjects throughout her illustrious career. The human figure, pattern, and interiors have been reoccurring and essential elements of Tod's oeuvre. However over the last ten years, portraiture has become a significant part of her output, both high-profile commissions as well as more idiosyncratic self-initiated portraits, such as her recent installation of "head-shots" paintings of the entire Toronto Raptors...
