Julia Gat enjoys observing everyday life and documenting photographically what she refers to as chaotic harmony. Often using her large family and circle of friends as models in her work, Julia is drawn simultaneously to heart-warming intimacy and provocative freedom. Based in France, the photographer as a child was home-schooled. Alternative education has played a significant role in her work. Julia has been immersed in an artistic milieu in her native Israel and her adopted home in Marseille, France where she has grown up in a family of 6.
