Beautiful and ethereal women floating underwater are reappearing subjects in Howard Schatz's oeuvre. This image of Shawnee Fee Jones is captivating through its simple composition and soft but glowing color palette.
The nude model is sitting on a pool floor. Her back is turned towards the camera, and she looks over her shoulder at the viewer. Her red and curly hair is floating around her head like a crown. The bottom of the pool is bathed in soft pink light. Sunlight is drawing a pattern across the floor and the model's body. A shadowed part of the pool, which appears blue and forms a beautiful contrast to the model's red hair, is visible at the top of the picture.
The model appears like a siren, soft and sensual. Her gaze seemingly invites the viewer to follow her deeper into the water.
