For over 50 years pioneering color photographer Mitchell Funk has been documenting the life of New York City. Funk's central preoccupation is recording the beauty of the visual world. His style lies somewhere between abstraction and figuration. This ariel view with raking light shows youths getting a basketball workout. Long shadows mixed with autumn colors create an original photographic image that expresses high beauty rivaling the iconic work of impressionist painters.

Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.

As the title indicates, the series is concerned with giving shape to temporal and spatial aspects inherent in all visual experience.
"At first glance, these multi-point visual puzzles appear out of focus or shaken , but in fact they consist of many different and very sharp photographs of the same motif. They are carefully combined through multiple exposures, resulting in a dynamic illusion of being on-the-go. My fascination with multiple exposures began in the 1980's.
