Airplanes are a recurring theme in Tony Kelly's works, and in combination with the cloudless blue sky in the background, 'Flight TK75' is a Kelly staple. The model sitting on the airplane's nose is wearing a bright blue Playboy Bunny costume, her tan skin contrasting against the white airplane. The piece is clean and graphic, a memorable image that captures the viewer with a touch of surrealism.
Tony Kelly is one of the most influential fine art photographers of our time. He plays with humor and provocation, and although highly polished, his work is playfully subversive, which forces you to stop and think, inviting us to venture beneath the glossy veneer and confront stereotypes, taboos, and role reversals. Kelly was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1975. He cut his teeth as a photojournalist, capturing the burgeoning celebrity culture in a city embracing newfound wealth. His voracious appetite for blue skies and sun-drenched panoramas drew him to Barcelona, where he embraced the "street voyeur" within. His quirky spin on daily life and the cultural idiosyncrasies surrounding him quickly became his distinctive signature style.
