The Hermès Birkin Bag has become an icon and statement piece of our time. Tony Kelly creates a graphic and memorable image by staging the piece in rainbow colors.
'Ladies Who Lunch' depicts several nude models from the side. They are standing in a line, each holding a bright-colored Birkin bag covering their hip area. In the background, a bright blue sky is visible, as in most of Kelly's works, creating a careless summer feel.
Luxurious Louboutins, luscious turquoise waterscapes, and a hefty dosage of naked skin – with his cinematic style, star photographer Tony Kelly combines the luxury aesthetic with vibrant colors and a shot of humor. KELLY was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1975. He cut his teeth as a photojournalist, capturing the burgeoning celebrity culture in a city embracing newfound wealth. His voracious appetite for blue skies and sun-drenched panoramas drew him to Barcelona, where he embraced the "street voyeur" within. His quirky spin on daily life and the cultural idiosyncrasies surrounding him quickly became his distinctive signature style.
