About the Item

Arabesque by Gina Soden [2015] limited_edition Digital photograph on Baryta paper Edition number 5 Image size: H:76.2 cm x W:76.2 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:80.2 cm x W:80.2 cm x D:0.1cm Sold Unframed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look This abandoned Moorish Revival palazzo is situated in the middle of Italy, hidden away in the rugged hills of Tuscany. It was constructed in the early part of the 17th century and was reconstructed and expanded several times since. It was lovingly restored for 40 years by a Spanish nobleman. Orientalism was a popular movement at the beginning of the 18th century around Europe, and it inspired him to adorn the interior space with spectacular colors, arabesque detailing, intricate wall designs and incredible sculptural ceilings. Arabesque is part of acclaimed photographer Gina Soden’s latest series – Distanza (2022). Every work in the Distanza series relishes in receding space. Abandoned grand architecture disappears into a single vanishing point, drawing the viewer in to a past that seems to exist in the present. Technically ambitious, the Distanza works were created over a number of years. Many of the works were captured in Italy, continuing Gina’s lifelong fascination with extraordinary and atmospheric spaces that abound there. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta 325gsm Giclee print, a premium quality paper, which is perfect for Gina Soden's brightly coloured and textured images. Fine Art Baryta paper has a similar foundation to that used in the past in traditional silver fibre prints. Its premium formulation allows for high image definition and 3-dimensional colour depth. The paper's unique glossy Baryta surface lends itself perfectly to saturated colour images. Edition of 10 with 2 A/P's. Your print is produced direct from Gina Soden's studio who personally proofs and check the artwork. It will then be packaged and rolled in a tube sent by courier. Size includes a 2cm border so it is ready for framing. With your artwork there will be a signed & numbered certificate of authenticity. This can be affixed to the back of the print when framed

"Something And/Or Nothing? - Nike" - Landscape Photography - Goldsworthy
By Andrew Herzog
Located in Atlanta, GA
"Something And/Or Nothing? - Nike" is a figurative landscape photograph with hues of green, yellow, and black. Born in Philadelphia, Andrew Herzog is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer currently working in New York City. Herzog creates a variety of works that explore the relationship between the viewer and the artist with themes of accessibility and prioritized sight, often taking the form of photographs, books, films, site-specific sculptures and interactive performances, objects and drawings. Herzog defines “prioritized sight” as how we choose, consciously or unconsciously, the things we see; what we engage or empathize with; and what we understand or misinterpret, with varying degrees of implication. Herzog received an MA in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He was the co-founder and partner at the design and technology studio HAWRAF, and led projects at the Google Creative Lab focusing on AI, creative tools and accessibility. Also, Herzog is adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Herzog has lectured and exhibited works at the A4 Art Museum, Chengdu, Sichuan, China; The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, PA; Q21 MuseumsQuartier Wien, Vienna, Austria; and The National Museum of Art of Romania; among others. Andrew Herzog is inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy, Olafur Eliason...
