With visual cues rooted in dance and music, and fashion passion stemming from her European upbringing, her images are sensual, sultry, yet powerful. Ode to Botticelli's Portrait of a Man with a Medal of Cosimo the Elder
Located in New Orleans, LA
24 x 15 inches - Edition 1 of 5 with 2 APs framing is an additional $420. Photography and acting are kindred spirits in the ongoing series by E2 - Kleinveld & Julien, entitled In Empathy We Trust. The project presents viewers with re-imagined iconic images from the history of art. The collaborators re-envision the work of old master painters beginning with the Flemish Primitives and spanning nearly 600 years. With subjects enacting roles with varied representations of race, age, and sexual orientation, E2’s revisionist Art History works by artists such as van Eyck, Botticelli, Raphael, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Fragonard, Manet and Whistler. Inspired by the original paintings, E2 hopes to “jar viewers” into questioning their own perceptions. They invite viewers to see these images, and indeed the world anew, using humor, wit and playfulness. In addition, they hope that the viewers will see how stereotypes can lead to prejudice and discrimination. The collaboration began in 2010, after completing work on the traveling exhibition and book project, Before (During) After: Louisiana Photographers Respond to Hurricane Katrina. This natural and man-made disaster brought social inequities in Louisiana into vivid focus. Conversations between Kleinveld and Julien revealed their mutual interest in issues of social justice. E2 has been exhibited internationally in institutions such as: Royal Academy of Art (London), Photoville (New York), Gemeentemuseum (The Hague), Palazzo Fortuny (Venice), Museum Castelvecchio (Verona), Galerie SIRIUS (Tokyo), New Orleans Museum of Art and Ogden Museum of Southern Art (New Orleans). The duo is represented by JONATHAN FERRARA GALLERY, New Orleans and their work appears in numerous public and private collections, including: Benetton Collection (Treviso, Italy), Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Trento, Italy), Hilliard University Art Museum (Lafayette, LA) and The Marks Collection (Houston). Elizabeth Kleinveld is an artist and photographer from New Orleans, now based in Amsterdam, who takes her inspiration from Paul Outerbridge...

These images are available as hand-pulled polymer photogravures, made with bone black and warm sepia inks on Hahnemühle Copperplate paper. Edition of 109 7 x 9 photopolymer gravure Signed numbered and dated by the artist Framing options available The photographs and poem that evolved into this series of photographs and the accompanying book “Yesterday” were made during the summer of 2020. Although much of the country was in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic, on this remote island off the coast of Maine, we still felt free from much of the toll that Covid was taking. Able to spend time outside, in nature, we had the illusion of safety, of normalcy almost, whilst at the same time being painfully aware of how the virus was increasingly touching everyone's lives. By then we all knew of people who had died, or become ill and we were managing the stress of futures shifting and plans that had been derailed, fearing what would come with the change of the seasons. That summer represented a pause in time, a moment where life could feel normal, when we were still holding on to a world of yesterdays. Maine-based photographic artist and writer Sal Taylor Kydd uses various photographic media in a personal narrative that explores themes around memory and belonging; combining her poetry with alternative processes of photography and object-making. Taylor Kydd’s fine art photographs have been exhibited throughout the country and internationally, including Barcelona, San Miguel De Allende, Portland, Boston and Los Angeles; and she has been featured in numerous publications, including Shots Magazine, Don’t Take Pictures Magazine, Lenscratch, Diffusion Annual and The Hand magazine. She has self-published a number of books combining her poetry with her photographs. Her books are in private and museum collections throughout the country including The Getty Museum, Bowdoin College, The Peabody Essex Museum and the Maine Women Writer’s Collection at the University of New England. Taylor Kydd’s latest book “Yesterday”, produced by Datz Press, is a limited edition book of poems and photographs that explores our sense of loss around the pandemic of 2020. Taylor Kydd is also a veteran workshop leader and educator and has led workshops and conducted portfolio reviews throughout the country and internationally with Maine Media, Santa Fe Workshops, Palm Beach Photography...

Now look at Barack Obama and Bill Cosby
Located in Montreal, Quebec
Beyond Sociology: The Act of Seeing a Person Text by Edwin Janzen It is hardly surprising that in our society perceptions of homeless persons remain two-dimensional, stereotypical, inadequate. Even for the rare administration tackling the problems of homelessness in an effective, meaningful way, the homeless person’s humanity is buried beneath a mountain of endless statistical markers: mental illness, substance abuse, soup-kitchen attendance, etc. The enormous negativity lingering about the resultant profile permits scant room for other, arguably important accoutrements of the human experience—character, emotion, intellect, beauty, relationship to divinity—and leaves homeless persons basically where they already are: on the street, the objects of middle-class loathing or pity. Struck by this depressing determinism, artist Bevan Ramsay set out to cast portrait busts of homeless persons (one woman, the others men), producing an edition in fine, white statuary Hydrocal plaster mounted on mahogany bases. These portraits, titled Lesser Gods...

Dreaming tonight
Located in Ciudad de México, MX
Miguel Milló builds complex compositions in which painting, sculpture, and the play of light and shadow combine to create subtle and poetic atmospheres. In his images, the human being is a metaphor for the fertile land from which life springs; an overflowing life, full of throbbing. It can be said that the nude bodies are blank canvases that the artist intervenes with mud and pigments, to later cover them with simple or complex compositions of plants, earth, roots, leaves, flowers, and fruits. This gives life to his final work, through the masterful handling of light sources and shadows that provide volume and movement to the creation captured through his magic eye...

Lorenzo Agius - Jude and Ewan in Bed, jude law, ewan mcgregor, british, 20x24 in
Located in London, GB
Lorenzo Agius (b.1962) Jude and Ewan in Bed 2003 digital C-Type print 48 x 60 in. / 30 x 40 in. / 20 x 24 in. signed and numbered printed later This work is available in the following sizes (paper size): 20 x 24 in., edition of 25 + 2 AP, £3,960 (inc. 20% UK VAT) 30 x 40 in., edition of 25 + 2 AP, £5,880 (inc. 20% UK VAT) 48 x 60 in., edition of 15 + 2 AP, £8,640 (inc. 20% UK VAT) Provenance: Direct from the artist's studio Notes: All photographs are signed and numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the photographer. Photographed in London, 2003, celebrating the Bafta awards and UK talent. Celebrity photographer, Lorenzo Agius, is renowned for his unique, intimate and often comical portraits of the 'stars'. The photographer shot to great prominence following his seminal images from the 1996 groundbreaking British film, Trainspotting. Agius has had a colourful affair with 'celebrity' over the past two decades. Expertly capturing the character and individuality of each of his sitters, Agius' images flaunt stylistic brilliance and bubble with personality. From Madonna to Margot Robbie, Agius' body of work portrays the varying and often polar characters of major icons. He tunes into the creativity of his subjects and successfully reflects the mood of the moment; the results are natural, accessible and in each case reflect the artist's eye for light, composition and a strong imagination for narrative. Whether it be celebrating British culture or capturing the sleek, Hollywood look, Agius' personality is intrinsic to his photographs; the mood is always light and refreshing and humour is ever present. Six of Agius' iconic works are part of the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery, London. The artist has been an Ambassador for Canon Cameras since 2008 and has exhibited at The Getty Gallery, London alongside other notable exhibitions in Moscow, Paris, Cannes and the UAE.
