The Strata Series captures the extensive transformation of Arizona and Utah landscapes. Through striking photographs, it unveils the intricate evolution of terrain, showcasing a stunning array of colours, patterns, and formations shaped by natural forces. Over countless millennia, wind and water have sculpted the captivating sandstone landscapes in an enduring cycle of weathering and erosion. The vibrant shades of reds, pinks, oranges, and whites tell a story of continual change that has defined these landscapes.
In his work Luca Marziale investigates the idea and the definition of landscape. The artist shows micro-landscapes, focusing his attention on the overlooked details of nature and on the microorganisms found in extreme environments.

Luca Marziale
In his work, Luca Marziale questions the concept of landscape and our idea of the classic landscape. The artist’s attention is often focused on small details which he captures with macro zoomed lens to compose the ‘micro-landscapes’, as he defines them. These photographs challenge the observer to question their perception and perspective. The landscape has become abstract, the points of reference have disappeared, and the subject of the photograph is not immediately obvious. Thanks to his refined technique and personal vision of the landscape, the artist invites the observer to discover unknown and unusual landscapes, creating an inspiring and different photographic world. “Not all landscapes have to be vast and infinite; sometimes a closer look can be immense in the same way.”
