A number of elements came together in this photo, taken during a backpacking trip into the Ansel Adams Wilderness in the Eastern Sierra, California. Just as alpine peaks glow pink long before the sun crests the horizon, so too they blush when the Moon is about to make an appearance. With sufficiently dark skies, the moonlit glow of mountains stands in contrast with the Milky Way rising above the landscape, ephemeral light that is gone far too soon. I formed a primordial connection with a deep instinctual sense of being part of the natural narrative, and wherever in the world I may be, this connectivity underpins my practice.
