A model is lying on her shoulders, her feet bent back over her head as she is making eye contact with the camera. Her smooth skin is captured in soft shades of grey. The Fabric in the background and on the floor adds subtle texture to the image. Guido Argentini is a master of nude Photography and this minimal image becomes intriguing through the models' unconventional pose, complimented by the square format of the print.
Dramatic poses, tender touches, and longing glances populate Guido Argentini’s photographic landscape. The Italian star photographer, celebrated in all genres, has a particular gift for the female nude. Juxtaposing and contextualizing the female body through cityscapes and the natural environment, Argentini playfully compares color, forms, and moods. His diptychs and singles are suffused with a sense of longing and memory. From beauties in pompous buildings to bondage – the self-taught artist explores every dimension of sensuality. Guido Argentini
Guido Argentini is widely known for his evocative landscapes and stylized color nude photography. The Los Angeles-based artist has freelanced for numerous magazines and has garnered acclaim for his book, Silvereye, which collects sensual photography of nude female models that have been covered in metallic chrome paint.
Born in Florence, Italy, Argentini initially studied medicine at the University of Florence. He left after three years of study to pursue an interest in photography — a passion that brought him to the United States in 1990.
Since the debut of Silvereye in 2003, Argentini has published Private Rooms, Reflections and Shades of a Woman. An admirer of performance art as well as visual art — he has drawn on sculptures by Michelangelo, Auguste Rodin and Constantin Brâncuși — Argentini explored a fusion of motion and eroticism for the images of ballet dancers that are collected in 2013’s Argentum.
Renowned publications such as Vogue, Marie Claire and Playboy have all featured Argentini’s photography. His work has been exhibited at Todd Kaplan Gallery in California, the James Gallery in Russia and elsewhere.
