The imagery calls to mind a Baroque still life, highlighting the beauty and simplicity found in every day objects. Here a sienna colored ceramic pitcher is captured besides an arrangement of yellow lemons, curly green zucchini, black olives, and brown nuts. The pop of white from the napkin in addition to the stark black background accentuates the simplistic color and shapes of the fruits and vegetables. About the Artist: David Halliday's photographs are about beauty, pure and simple. His primary subjects are carefully composed still lifes, portraits and landscapes which he shoots in black and white film with only natural light. He is a purist behind the lens, rarely manipulating his negatives in any way, and a master in the darkroom. His work has an ethereal quality that's translated not only through the subject, but also by the warm colors and sepia tones he uses in his printing. Celebrated for his ‘purist’ eye, he poetically captures the nude male body in a selection of sepia-toned prints from 1996. In this series an empty cookie tin becomes a tiny studio for food objects. Halliday carefully styles his photographic subjects inside and, allowing only natural light to seep in through a circular window. The results feel less like still lifes and more like intimate portraits of human sustenance. Still Life, limited edition from the series Jewish Beauty Born in 1948 in the French Alps, Jean Turco spent his adolescence in Chamonix Mont Blanc. He awarded a diploma in photography and made numerous images of high mountain. At the age of 20, he left "the valley" for Paris where he is going to exercise as a game an activity which fascinates him and will allow him to visit a lot of distant countries by taking in his luggage Leica IIIf and Hasselblad which share his life. He has so produced in Europe, in the United States or in Emirates and Sultanates of the Gulf, uncountable landscapes and portraits; his taste for these last ones asserting itself during journeys in India and in Pakistan. In 2000, he rethought his implication in the photography and decided to dedicate himself to it full-time. He abandoned then quite other activity, tidied up his inseparable IIIf and Hasselblad in a cupboard, took back his Sinar P 20x25 and Nikon-digital then burned symbolically and without mood, his negatives and archival to start all over again. Mainly intended for the exhibitions, he made more of seventy these last years, his photos concern since numerous subjects even if the portrait, the nude and the still life remain privileged. In the early 1980s Flack's artistic medium shifted from painting to sculpture. She describes this shift as a desire for "something solid, real, tangible. Something to hold and to hold on to." Flack discusses the fact that she is self-taught in sculpture. She incorporates religion and mythology into her sculpture rather than the historical or everyday subjects of her paintings. Her sculptures often demonstrate a connection to the female form, including a series of diverse, heroic women and goddess figures. These depictions of women differ from those of traditional femininity, but rather are athletic, older, and strong. As Flack describes them: "they are real yet idealized... the 'goddesses in everywoman.'" Flack has claimed to have found the photorealist movement too restricting, and now gains much of her inspiration from Baroque art. Flack is currently represented by the Louis K.
