Edmond Charles Joseph Yon
Edmond Charles Joseph Yon was a French painter known for his landscape paintings and as an engraver. A pupil of Pouget and Lequesne, Yon made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1865 and obtained medals in the following years, 1872, 1875, 1878 and 1879. In 1889, Yon was awarded a medal in the L'Exposition Universelle and was made a knight of the Legion of Honour in 1886. Yon was particularly noted for his riverside scenes and often depicted scenes from the Seine, the Marne and the Bievre. Yon also painted in Holland, Normandy and the region of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Yon's works are now held in many important public collections, including Amiens, Antwerp, Lille, Montreal, Paris and Calais and also in several notable private collections throughout the world.
