'Mother's Day Bouquet' is a giclée print on watercolor paper, signed by the artist in the lower right. Atop a checkered placemat rests a bouquet of flowers in a vase. Foregoing botanical realism, Barnett has opted instead to present a uniform floral profile, emphasizing how their colors work as an ensemble rather than foregrounding any distinct physiological differences. The composition’s flattened perspective also resembles the works of another painter of flowers—Henri Matisse—from whom Barnett draws inspiration. 'Anticipating Spring' is an artist's proof giclée print on watercolor paper after the original 2003 watercolor. Recalling the works of post-impressionist Henri Matisse, Barnett's vibrant watercolors depict a panoply of flowers that engage each of the viewer's senses. The subtle gradations in hue suggest textural changes on the flower petals, while the luminous white space between the flowers functions as an aromatic haze, lush and intoxicating. 'Beaver Lake Flowers' is an artist's proof giclée print after the 1996 original, signed by the artist in the lower right.
