Giger 's work inter-connects science fiction, nature, technology, the occult, life, death, sex with a fantastic, different reality. He has created his very own, unique, recognizable style and all his objects are crafted to a superior standard of quality. Over the decades he worked in a multitude of media and disciplines and was known to experiment in collaboration with his many highly skilled artisan to find new materials, best suited to create his fantastic art. A trait which originally served him well, designing the set of Alien. My dad grew up in Chur, Switzerland and knew him as a kid in the early 1950’s and would tell me stories how young Hans Ruedi displayed his genius during outings of the boy scouts, or his ghost train in his parents attic or how he would drag a rattling ‘train’ of skulls through the backstreets of Chur during Fasnacht (Carneval). Here on offer is a signed and limited screen print out of the ERTOMECHANICS Folio published in the late 70’s. It depicts a biomechanical composition with two figures, forming a (wo)man-machine with tubes penetrating the bodies and mechanical devices implanted under the skin. Verso there is the typographical inscription: 'Copyright H.R. Giger, Zürich – Gedruckt by Serigrapie Albin Udry Bern' . Hans Rudolf Giger is today the 1589th world ranking artist with an annual turnover of over about 600’000 US$ - Considering the gazillions of traded artist on this planet – that makes him a seriously important and worldwide recognizable artist ... When you look at an object by HRG you know, you are looking at creation by HR Giger. Condition: The desirable, over 40 year old sheet has damages. Besides some inconspicuous scuffs / scratches, bruised corners and a short edge tear, there is in particular a scratch/abrasion sweeping across the right part of the picture. The arched scratch-trail is only really visible in very flat reflected light. Some of the scratches have been retouched by the previous owner. Once the screen print has been professionally framed & mounted behind glass, the sheet will present nicely, and that long scratch will be pretty difficult to spot.
