This hand crafted Giclee print on canvas of 'African', by Boris Chetkov, provides the opportunity to own and enjoy a Chetkov masterpiece at a very affordable price.
Produced exactly to the size of the original painting and beautifully textured with a clear gesso finish following Chetkov’s distinctive brushwork, this reproduction was exclusively authorized by the artist and is currently available only on 1stDibs.
"Most amazing in this painting is the presence - behind the spontaneous nature of the painting - of a true portrait likeness. In the overall depiction of the face, appears the works of a physiognomic. Chetkov is plainly judging the subject, weighing the mental qualities by his facial features. What lies behind the broad brushstrokes and palette knife work is the traced, almost a la prima modeling capturing a specific character; impulsive, heated and extrovert." -

From 1995 until 2014, when Russia invaded Crimea (at which time cultural exhange largely came to an end) the Pushkin Gallery collected exceptional works from the period of postwar Soviet Union.

In 2000, the Pushkin Gallery moved to a 300-year-old restored hacienda in the world-renowned art center of Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the unique gallery became a must-see destination for art lovers.
