About the Item

Original World War 2 vintage poster: YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO MISS EITHER! BUY BONDS EVERY PAYDAY. Linen-backed, fine condition, ready to frame. Great condition and fabulous image. The image is a close-up of a machine gunner shooting down an enemy airplane. One of the few milltary war posters created by a woman, Martha Sawyers. Original US Government issued World War 2 posters we all folded so that they could be mailed out across the country. The fold marks, since they all were folded, are not considered a defect. The fold marks are normally touched up during linen backing to make them disappear. Linen backing on USA posters after World War 1 is necessary because the paper used for printing was normally wood pulp paper that falls apart, just like your daily newspaper. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is professional acid-free conservation mounted and in very good condition. Shipping the poster without a frame saves you excess shipping costs and also allows you to use conservation clear UV glass; which is fragile and has a high chance of breaking during shipment. Also, a brown tone frame is a great accent idea for this image. If you choose a mat, look at dark blue to contrast.
