About the Item

Original World War II poster: "Men Working Together", horizontal original American World War II antique vintage military poster. Size 40" x 30". Year: 1942 Archival linen backed in very good condition. No paper loss, no tears, no damage. Touched up original US Government-issued fold marks (this is not considered a defect). Linen backing is important for all World War 2 posters because they were folded and also because most were printed on an inexpensive wood-pulp paper and degraded quickly! This poster would be in the 'excellent' category without the original fold marks. Very good condition. A formidable trio; soldier, rigger, and sailor, stand shoulder to shoulder united in an all-out effort to win in this poster issued by the Office of Emergency Management. Labor was generally cooperative though out the war; a tacit agreement not to strike prevailed. Now hard to find. Creator/Contributor: United States. Office of War Information Publisher: [Washington, D.C.]: U. S. Government Printing Office Year: 1942 The poster was produced by the Division of Information under the Office of Emergency Management. The image shows both an army soldier and sailor flanking a factory worker. The text for "Men Working” is designed similarly to template letters seen in production factories. The artwork reinforces the message that workers on the home front were equally as important as those fighting overseas.
