About the Item
Jana Osterman is fascinated and inspired by the organic shapes found in nature. This is one in a series of imposing wall reliefs created in venetian plaster. Osterman’s biomorphic work is intended to evoke images of living things whether plants or humans.The pure white of the piece serves to accentuate the subtle markings and the elongated oval form.

Born in Slovenia, Jana Osterman moved to Holland where she studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. She continued with printmaking studies in England. For the last 20 years, Osterman has worked as a full-time artist and fabricator in Canada, first in Toronto and now in Prince Edward County, Ontario.
Osterman’s artworks, including public commissions, are held in collections in Canada, Slovenia, Germany, England, and Dubai.

Jana Osterman
Born in Slovenia, Jana Osterman moved to Holland where she studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. She continued with printmaking studies in England. For the last 20 years, Osterman has worked as a full time artist and fabricator in Canada, first in Toronto and now Prince Edward County, Ontario. Using a variety of materials including cast aluminum, copper and plaster, the artist creates biomorphic themed sculptures. Her work intersects the organic and enigmatic with references to the natural world. Osterman’s artworks, including public commissions, are held in collections in Canada, Slovenia, Germany, England and Dubai.
