About the Item
Inspired by the organic shapes, colours and textures of the natural world, Jana Osterman creates stunning wall reliefs. This bright white plaster piece is polished with wax giving it a light sheen. This work is the Artist’s Proof from an edition of 10.
“I’m interested in producing quiet, minimal, contemplative work, concerned with how far I can push a form and material to stay inside that realm.” Jana Osterman
Born in Slovenia, Osterman moved to Holland where she studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. She continued with printmaking studies in England. For the last 20 years, Osterman has worked as a full-time artist and fabricator in Canada, first in Toronto and now in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Using a variety of materials including cast aluminum, copper and plaster, the artist creates biomorphic themed wall reliefs. Osterman’s artworks, including public commissions, are held in collections in Canada, Slovenia, Germany, England and Dubai.
