Jeff Koons
Jeff Koons "Play-Doh" coupe service plate by Bernadaud, France

2014

About the Item

Bright and colorful Jeff Koons "Play-Doh" porcelain plate produced by Bernadaud, Made in Limoges, France. Limited Edition #115/2500, numbered on back of plate. Sold with its original Bernadaud box packaging. Designed by Jeff Koons in collaboration with Bernardaud, this limited-edition coupe service plate features a reproduction of Koons’s painting "Play-Doh" (1995–2008), from his iconic "Celebration" series. Conflating the readymade and the monumental, the "Celebration" works transform humble objects into abstract symbols of transcendence and the biological and attest to Koons’s ongoing fascination with childlike consciousness and communication. Koons compresses his imagery into the foreground of his works, treating his subjects as purposefully flat, opaque images that seem to deny any specific social critique or psychological implications. Instead, his imagery, drawn from pop culture to art historical references, emphasizes acceptance and celebrates the sensuality and amazement that can be wrought from all of life’s visual experiences. pop art, jeff koons, porcelain, porcelain plate, decorative art, plate, home decor, interior design, interior decor, homewares, tableware, wall art, installation art, play-doh
