St Nicholas Church in Worth Matravers is one of the oldest churches in Dorset. It was built around the year 1100 AD. Though the majority of the church is Norman, some of the stonework appears to come from an earlier building, suggesting that there was a church here in the late Saxon period. This memorial window commemorates Diana Strange who died tragically in 1977. It was commissioned by her husband who was a keen admirer of Gray’s work and centres on the Elizabethan chalice used...

“Madelyn Meatyard was an indulgent model. The role her husband usually chose for her was that of mother, posing with one or more of her three children. Here, he stations her before an arched window. The pious atmosphere created by this framing is contradicted by Madelyn’s everyday dress and by the dilapidated Venetian blinds behind her. Unlike a traditional religious icon, this Madonna gazes sternly into space, while her small child stands facing the maternal loins from which she sprang. Many photographers prior to Meatyard—such as Alfred Stieglitz, Edwards Weston and Harry Callahan—had produced series based on their beguiling wives.”

The fruits contained in an overturned basket are scattered on the table around an old bottle covered with esparto grass, giving a rich note of color and contrasting textures.

Juan Carlos Ospina Ortiz (Colombia 1963), practices realistic figuration with themes of clear Spanish influence. The artist settled in Andalusia (Spain), where, searching for his roots, he immersed himself in the music, folklore, and traditions of that country.

I love this tower. I first painted it as far back as 1994 when I worked mainly in watercolors. I’ve known it for over 30 years. I played in a soccer league there and attended a workshop, and I even witnessed a dear friend propose to his future wife under it.
There’s an urban legend it was named “Lionel” by local schoolchildren in the 1950s.

Marta Mężyńska was born in 1981 in Białystok Poland. Studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2001-2007 obtaining a diploma at the Faculty of Painting under the supervision of prof. Jarosław Modzelewski.
The main theme of her paintings is the architecture, blocks and storefronts, she likes to go into detail and to manipulate light and shadow. When selecting storefront sites is guided by color and interesting calligraphy. All her paintings are made with oil on canvas.
