Lucio Bubacco Signed Devil with Rose Murano Art Glass Sculpture Candlestick
By Lucio Bubacco
Located in Forney, TX
A rare and exceptionally executed signed Lucio Bubacco (Italian, b. 1957) hand-blown Venetian art glass 'Red Devil with Rose' Candlestick, dated 1994. The visually striking sculptural candlestick of cobalt glass with gilt foil inclusions, featuring a flameworked figural stem in Bubacco's exquisitely detailed fine quality style, resting on circular foot, inscribed: Bubacco Lucio 94 PROVENANCE / ACQUISITION: Habatat Galleries, Boca Raton, Florida, 1995. Property from the Estate of Myra Janco Daniels, Naples, Florida Acquired from highly reputable auction house, Heritage Auctions, Dallas, Texas. Design Signature Auction catalog #8110 DIMENSIONS: (approx) 18.25" High, 5" Wide, 4.75" Deep ABOUT THE ARTIST: Most of the subjects of Lucio Bubacco’s (b. 1957) glass art are provocative and polarising; at the same time they are sensual and beguiling. In a kind of erotic ‘trance dance’ – Mephistophelian and frequently riotous – nightmarish fabulous creatures and mythological phantasms virtually undulate about each other. His technical virtuosity in creative execution is unparalleled, for the Murano-born glass artist has elevated the Venetian flame technique to a new level of skill and complexity. Bubacco has captured human feelings and emotions in the masterly play of gestures and muscles of the glass figures featured in his burlesque installations. Full of wit and irony he thus explores the limits of kitsch without overstepping them. Follow him into a world of carnevalesque orgies, crystalline incubi and erotic fantasies in glass! Lucio Bubacco is represented in numerous museums around the world, including the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, The Corning Museum of Glass, Museum of American Glass, Millville, and Tampa Museum of Art (US); Nagoya Museum (JP); Glasmuseum Frauenau and European Museum of Modern Glass / The Veste Coburg Art Collections (DE); MusVerre, Sars-Poteries (FR); Museo del Vetro, Murano, Venice (IT); Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam (NL); J&L Lobmeyr Museum and The Margot and Roman Fuchs Collection, both in Vienna (AT). BIOGRAPHY: Lucio Bubacco was born on the beautiful island of Murano, near Venice, in April 1957. Commonly referred to as the Glass Island, Murano provided Lucio with the inspiration and techniques that have set him above and beyond his common contemporaries. He has given life to an art form uniquely his own using the traditional Venetian lampworking...

Art Déco Porcelain Figure 'Girl With Deer' by Schliepstein, Rosenthal Germany
By Rosenthal, Gerhard Schliepstein
Located in Vienna, AT
Manneristly elongated young woman, stroking a deer, clad only in a knee-length skirt. On a cambered, round base. Designed by Gerhard Schliepstein (1886 - 1963), German sculptor and designer of Art Deco as well as a porcelain modeller. Until the mid-1920s, his designs were predominantly determined by naturalistic animal representations, from the mid-1920s a series of Expressionist sculptures followed with a white glaze and a clear reduction in the accessories, the slim, elegant figures from this period combine stylistic features of Expressionism and New Objectivity the elegance of Gothic figures...
