Howard Yellow Gold Filled Open Faced Pocket Watch with Original Enamel Dial 1918
By Howard
Located in Long Beach, CA
FACTORY / HOUSE: Howard Watch Company STYLE / REFERENCE: 12 Size / Open Faced Pocket Watch METAL / MATERIAL: Yellow Gold Filled CIRCA / YEAR: 1918 DIMENSIONS / SIZE: Diameter 47mm MOVEMENT / CALIBER: Manual Winding / 19 Jewels / High Grade DIAL / HANDS: Original Kiln Fired Enamel / Blued Steel Hands ATTACHMENT / LENGTH: Gold Filled Chain / Regular Length WARRANTY: 18 months on the movement This is a "vault find" watch, it has been locked up for nearly 50 years, which means it needs a service. We will service it for you as part of the purchase price before it is shipped out to you. This will delay shipping for a few days of course. LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT This great looking and classic man's pocket watch is still fitted with a flawless and original Kiln Fired Dial. These dials were made of glass and fired in a furnace at 1500 degrees. The watch is all original as well, still with its original blued steel hands. The watch is very dependable even now, but it should be serviced (which we will do included in the price). The cuvette is finely engraved with a presentation to a Captain Keller. Wherever he is, his watch is still running and will continue to run for another 200 years with a service occasionally. HOWARD HISTORY One of the most respected names in American watch making, was the house founded by Edward Howard in Boston Massachusetts in 1858. Howard’s creativity helped establish the principles of industrialization and standardized parts. Howards watches were rugged and very accurate as well. Their case designs were innovative as well. Howard watches were used by scientists and engineers in military and industry because they were rugged and dependable. In 1903, the Howard Watch Company was acquired by the Keystone Watch...

Howard chairs are so expensive largely due to their quality. The British furniture maker produces each piece to order using carefully selected upholstery, wood and padding. Skilled artisans painstakingly perform much of the manufacturing by hand, adding to the cost of pieces. Plus, demand for the furniture tends to be high, which also drives up the selling price. Shop a collection of Howard & Sons chairs on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 20, 2024
To identify a Howard sofa, search for the maker's mark. You can usually find it on the back of a foot or on a paper label sewn onto an inconspicuous area. To identify a Howard chair, search the piece for a maker's mark. Over the years, the furniture maker marked its pieces in different ways. Some chairs will have a stamp on their back legs or casters when present. Others may have a label sewn onto the Hessian, the cloth found beneath the cushion on an armchair. Stamps and labels varied over time but usually featured the maker's name. Many also displayed a style number you can cross-reference with information published on trusted online resources to learn more about the chairs. If you need assistance with the identification process, you may wish to consult a certified appraiser or experienced antique dealer. In recent years, the American painter has become widely known for his landscape paintings that portray the coastlines of his native Florida in vivid colors. • 1stDibs ExpertMarch 5, 2024
To determine the value of a Howard Miller grandfather clock, look for the serial number and check trusted online resources and auction houses to see the sales prices of pieces of similar age and style. This should at least help provide an estimate with respect to how much your item is worth. Keep in mind that the age, rarity and condition of any antique or vintage clock will also impact its value.

Your Howard Miller clock may have a label that is affixed to the back of the clock or is tucked inside the case on the back or side. The clock's model and serial number will appear on this label. If you're able to hunt down and consult vintage trade catalogs, these numbers will be of help in identifying the clock.

If the original parts of your Howard Miller grandfather clock have been replaced or repaired, this will also be a factor in determining its value. Because there is a range of aspects that can affect the value of your grandfather clock or any other antique, it's typically a good idea to have a certified appraiser or experienced antiques dealer evaluate a clock. An expert can properly assess the condition of your clock and likely give you a clear picture of how much it's worth.

On 1stDibs, shop a variety of vintage Howard Miller grandfather clocks, wall clocks and table clocks.
