Jean Monneret Prints and Multiples
Jean Monneret is originally from the Burgundy region of France. He is a graduate of the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and Lille. He was also a professor at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art in Paris from 1974–88. Monneret’s artwork is figurative often with graphic expressive black contours in the style of Bernard Buffet. An important presence in most of the French painting 'salons' he was elected president of the Salon des Indépendants between 1977 and 2001. Monneret is also the founding president of the Federation of Historical Salons of the Grand Palais. A retrospective of his works from 1943–97 was sponsored by the Salon des Indépendants at the Eiffel-Branly gallery. His artworks are widely collected both privately and publicly. They appear in the French State Collection of the city of Paris, in the Art Museum of Lille and the museum of the French Navy. His private works are held in France, the United States, Great Britain, Japan and Germany.
