In 1956, he traveled to the United States of America, where he graduated from both the School of Visual Arts and the American Art School, both located in New York. Likewise, he studied at the Art Students League in New York and at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. He was a fellow of the New School for Social Research, New York, the Graphic Art Center-Pratt Institute, New York, and the Council for International Exchanges of Scholars, Washington, D.C. He is the author of 4 books and his articles and interviews have been published nationally and internationally. About his work, 3 books have been published. He has received l37 awards in various events, among which is the National Order for his contribution to culture, conferred by the Council of State of Cuba.
