The Havana bench also listed separately features a blackened solid walnut base with a sculpted and bowed stretcher supporting a "floating" seat made of solid figured English elm.
The elm seat is comprised of two pieces derived from on long plank. Each piece was selected and cut to reveal the best overall grain pattern with the richest unified composition of the"pippy" figure. The top is cerused with lime wax in order to create a stunning contrast within the top itself and also with the blackened walnut base. The rich organic patterning on the top is a pleasing counter balance to the strict structure of the base. Each element is shaped, joined and finished so as to create a united design.

The Laguna series tables are some of my favorite and most challenging to build. Each base is unique as the process and resulting form is ultimately sculptural. The 1/2" thick tempered glass top is supported by a base made of walnut consisting of tapering arcs of varying size which intersect to form a dynamic structure.
The series works well with almost any shaped top be it glass, stone or solid wood. The Laguna series of tables makes the ultimate sculptural statement in any setting. Each table base is unique comprising of a number of tapered arcs joined to create a structure with endless visual possibilities.
All the elements are shaped, joined and finished by hand so as to create a united design.

The supporting legs are tapered which is accentuated by tapered champers which lead the eye from the mass of the bottom to up the glass support points in a highly unique shape.
This is a very versatile design that can accommodate a variety of symmetrical shapes with corresponding lower shelf. These shapes include circle, square, oval and rectangle as shown. Matching side tables can also be made to any height utilizing the same design and structural language. The overall effect is a highly sculptural table that is ultimately very functional. The base is comprised of six sculptural hand shaped legs which are joined to create two pedestals which supports the cabinet above. The legs have been ebonized to visually ground the piece and heighten the overall sense of contrast and richness of the walnut and koa. Each door handle is a custom shaped piece of three thousand year old bog oak. The credenza is comprised of three compartments with adjustable shelves. Each element is shaped, joined and finished so as to create a united design.

The Oriel III side table features a blackened solid ash base which has been burned in the traditional Japanese shou sugi ban technique. This technique when used on ash reveals the deep richness of the open grain and creates a unique black quality which is heightened by the hand rubbed oil finish. The cantilevered top and waterfall joined leg in highly figured elm complete the structure. The unique elm plank has been stabilized with the use butterflies. This is done on the underside so as to not impose on the character of the figured elm has been cerused to further highlight the grain that flows from top to leg. The heightened contrast is created both in color and in form. The mass of the black leg frame serves as a perfect balance to the the cerused and cantilevered top. The overall effect is a highly sculptural table that is ultimately very functional. Each element is selected, shaped, joined and finished so as to create a unified design.

The sapele mahogany swirl veneer is individually selected cut and pieced together in a random and unique pattern which is influenced by the traditional Asian cracked ice motif. The top is cerused with lime wax.
