19th C. French Faience Foot Bath with Chinoiserie Birds and Gilt Floral Reliefs
Located in Dallas, TX
Add a touch of whimsical elegance to your space with this charming 19th-century French faience foot bath. Crafted circa 1880, the oval basin features richly molded rococo cartouches on each side, framing hand-painted chinoiserie-style scenes of exotic birds nestled among flowering branches. The colorful palette, highlighting rose, yellow, green, and lilac tones, is enhanced by raised gilt scrollwork that lends a dimensional, decorative flourish. The cream-colored body displays subtle craquelure from age, and the piece is fitted with ornate molded side handles and a thick rolled rim. Each side presents a variation of the avian and floral motif, inspired by 18th-century Asian export wares popular in France during the late 19th century. The unmarked underside shows light staining and wear consistent with age. Measuring 19 inches wide by 12.5 inches deep and 9 inches high, this antique foot bath...
