Poul Henningsen Ph5 Pendant in Monochrome White for Louis Poulsen
By Poul Henningsen
Located in Tilburg, NL
Poul Henningsen PH5 Pendant for Louis Poulsen. Denmark. Designed in 1958. New, current production. Poul Henningsen developed the PH 5 in 1958 in response to constant changes made to the shape and size of incandescent bulbs by bulb manufacturers, naming it after the size of the pendant’s main shade, which is 50 cm in diameter. When the lamp was introduced, he wrote, typically daringly, about how he had lost faith in whether the manufacturers of incandescent light bulbs would ever learn to consider common sense or have the consumer’s best interests at heart: “I have accepted fate, and with Louis Poulsen´s permission I have designed a PH fixture, which can be used with any kind of light source, Christmas lights...

Arne Jacobsen AJ Oxford Table Lamp with Metal Shade for Louis Poulsen
By Arne Jacobsen
Located in Tilburg, NL
Arne Jacobsen AJ Oxford table lamp 28mm 410mm in black and opaline for Louis Poulsen. Designed in 1963, current production. The AJ Oxford table lamp has a sleek graphic expression, which reflects the architecture of St Catherine's College, in Oxford, for which it was originally designed. St Catherine's College, inaugurated in 1963, was designed by Arne Jacobsen in a modernist architectural style, which stands in contrast with the surrounding classical architecture of Oxford University. The AJ Oxford Table Lamp was first designed as a table pin lamp for the impressive dining hall at the college, which housed long rows of oak tables, seating 350 people. The table lamps act as centrepieces on the tables, while natural light comes from clerestory windows and the wall-mounted AJ Eklipta provides diffused general lighting. The lamp is still found at St Catherine's College, which is still in use today, both for teaching and as a halls of residence for students. The AJ Oxford lamp...

Dazor Model 1000 Industrial Desk Lamp 1950s
By Dazor
Located in Tilburg, NL
Dazor Model 1000 Industrial desk lamp, United States, 1950s. A real American classic, this Dazor Model 1000 desk lamp. Often seen on 1950s desks in modern offices. Stylish and very practical, this desk lamp with TL-lamps can be used on a desk, but can also be enjoyed in a living room. The goose neck is flexible and the lampshade can be positioned in any way desired. Fantastic industrial design, referring to streamline design and art deco shapes with great details like the buttons and the metallic lacquer. The legacy of this lamp was highlighted when the set dressers of the iconic television series 'Mad Men' choose the Dazor 1000 als the standard desk lamp on the desks of all the employees in the beginning of the series, which starts around 1960. Main character Peggy Olson...

Although a fluorescent tube would be too much to ask in the existing form!” Henningsen wanted to improve the colour reproduction characteristics of the light source in the PH 5. Small red and blue shades were therefore inserted to supplement the colour in the part of the spectrum where the eye is least sensitive – the red and blue areas – thereby subduing the light in the middle yellow-green region where the eye is most sensitive. At the time, no one knew that the PH 5 would become synonymous with the PH light, which remains 100% glare-free, irrespective of how the light is installed or which light source is used. Poul Henningsen 'PH 4½-4' Glass Pendant for Louis Poulsen
By Poul Henningsen
Located in Tilburg, NL
Poul Henningsen 'PH 4½-4' glass pendant for Louis Poulsen. Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system back in 1925-1926. The first lights using the system were designed by PH in cooperation with Louis Poulsen for an exhibition in Paris. This partnership continued up until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free light, direct light where it was most needed, and create soft shadows, using incandescent bulbs as a light source. The PH 4½-4 Glass Pendant is a member of the three-shade family which numbers 30 lights today, including three for outdoor use. Thus PH did not just design a light, but an entire system – around a thousand different models have been produced over the years. This wide selection consisted of table, floor and wall lamps, as well as a number of different chandeliers...

Poul Henningsen PH5 Pendant in Hues of Blue for Louis Poulsen
By Poul Henningsen
Located in Tilburg, NL
Poul Henningsen PH5 pendant for Louis Poulsen. Denmark. Designed in 1958. New, current production. Poul Henningsen developed the PH 5 in 1958 in response to constant changes made to the shape and size of incandescent bulbs by bulb manufacturers, naming it after the size of the pendant’s main shade, which is 50 cm in diameter. When the lamp was introduced, he wrote, typically daringly, about how he had lost faith in whether the manufacturers of incandescent light bulbs would ever learn to consider common sense or have the consumer’s best interests at heart: “I have accepted fate, and with Louis Poulsen´s permission I have designed a PH fixture, which can be used with any kind of light source, Christmas lights and 100 W metal filament bulbs. The red and blue rings...
