This is an exceptionally large English mid-19th century Victorian Ironstone Platter decorated in a beautifully detailed Japanese Imari pattern. The enameling is sharp with deep coloration and the overlaid gold is in very good original condition. The platter is marked "Stone China" on the reverse. The platter is in very good overall condition with normal patination and very minimal losses to the painted decoration. There is a bit of wear to the underside of the rim which does not detract from the value of the platter. Platers of this size are very uncommon and desirable. This piece could be installed as a work of art or even fitted with a custom table base...

This outstanding hand painted 19th century French ceramic charger was made by Hautin Boulenger & Cie at Creil & Montereau. The highly detailed Aesthetic Movement charger features polychrome decoration depicting a Japanese quail perched in a flowering cherry tree bearing vivid green foliage. The bird's gaze is fixed on a colorful butterfly with intricately patterned wings which is located off to one side. The image is set on a gilt ground which bears a series of repeating raised gilt motifs. The charger's shoulder is finished in cobalt blue with stylized gilt hearts separated by light blue floral and foliate elements. This is a good quality coffee can that we attribute to the Coalport porcelain works, Shropshire, England, made during the John Rose period of the George 111rd years, circa 1805. The coffee can is nominally parallel, tapering slightly to the base, with a simple loop handle, with a slight lower kink and pointed attachments. It has a shallow foot recess with obtuse corner and is unmarked to the base. The pattern is beautifully hand painted in the French Chantilly style with cornflower sprigs in gold gilt and blue with red & green leaf detail to the lower half with an upper border continuous cornflower pattern, all between gold gilt rings with further gilt decoration to the outer handle and gilding around the lower rim.
