A Chinese three-tiered lunch basket from the early 20th century with red lacquer, gilded décor and black bamboo handle. Created in China during the early years of the 20th century, this three-tiered lunch basket features a red lacquered ground accented by a lovely gilded hand-painted décor. Topped with a large black lacquered tripartite bamboo handle with rattan links and metal detail, the basket is topped with a circular lid adorned with a grouping or women and children sitting or standing in front of a bench. The body itself showcases children with ribbon-tied pigtails sitting down, carrying lamps or crossing a bridge among others, while the lower section is decorated with birds perched on branches or rocks. Each section is removable and presents a dark brown with purple undertone interior. This outstanding late 19th century Japanese Satsuma porcelain covered temple jar has a traditional form with a domed lid. The piece features exquisite hand painted decoration which includes brightly hued flowers and associated foliage along with highly detailed jewel-toned butterflies with gilt highlights, all of which are on a shaded blue ground. The jar and lid also bear large chrysanthemums executed in heavy white enamel with underlying hints of green. The collar of the jar and edge of the lid have wide gilt bands finished with fine incised linear decoration that has been accented with blue, black and white enamel. This is an elegant porcelain Chinese export porcelain Bottle Vase raised on a low foot, all hand painted in a blue and white dragon pattern, which we date to the mid 20th century, circa 1950. The vase is fairly large and very well hand potted in a Classic bottle shape on a low foot having a clear white glaze with a light blue tinge. The base is also glazed to the centre and the foot rim has been carefully hand-cut. The vase is finely hand painted in a large range of cobalt blue tones from a light blue to a deep dark, almost black tones of cobalt blue, all around the body with two five toed dragons dancing among clouds. There are border patterns around the foot rim and the lower body all between blue circles with double blue circles just below the top rim. The base has a carefully hand painted underglaze-blue six-character apocryphal Qing - Qianlong ( 1736 to 1795) seal mark, though we date this vase to the mid 20th century.
