"Untitled 3" Painting 102" x 102" inch by GUELA TSOULADZE
Located in Culver City, CA
"Untitled 3" Painting 102" x 102" inch by GUELA TSOULADZE Oil painting on oilcloth canvases. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Nomad from birth, Guela Tsouladzé was born on November 8, 1959 in Tbilisi, Georgia, from a French mother and a Georgian father. His father was one of the first Georgian psychanalyst; but working with the conscient and subconscient of the homo sovieticus was a disputed occupation, criticized by the soviet ideology. Therefore, it required a significant dose of audacity; it’s in this context of insubordination and freedom, that Guela tirelessly repeats that he will be an artist, without ever having painted anything. The father thus commissioned his first work: a black dot on the ceiling of his office, which his patients would fix during the sessions. The gateway to hypnosis, and the artist’s future signature. Perhaps Guela's innate sense of daring and escapism comes from there; these two themes are till today reflected in his works. Guela grows up in a surreal artistic universe, between France and Georgia, inspired in particular by Pirosmani, the brothers Zdanevitch and Salvador Dali, whom he met shortly before his death in 1981 at Portiligat Cadaques, and surrounded by the filmmaker Paradjanov, a friend of the Tsouladze family. He begins his studies at the Fine Arts on Tbilisi in 1977, but the ultimate horizon is Paris. He joins the Art Décoratifs from 1980 to 1983 and then the Beaux-Arts from 1983 to 1985. He becomes the assistant of Christian Boltanski, whom he follows from exhibition to exhibition. In France, the 80s are colorful years, wild like a Fauvist painting. Art comes out of museums and gives birth to the free figuration, an elusive movement, which was slowly taking shape in the lethargy of the Beaux-Arts. Pop culture, in its spontaneity and in its lack of self-control, takes over everything and breaks down all codes, groups and borders. Art is free from all constraints and analysis. Guela is there at the right time, in the right place, with the right people. The Holy Trinity, as he likes to repeat. These crazy years are an ecstatic playground for his artistic instincts. Guela paints on everything: papers, canvases or newspapers. His grand formats are at the scale of his silhouette; he leaves the Beaux-Art and joins the first squats in the nineteenth arrondissement of Paris, notably the Quai de Seine workshop, which he shares with Remy Blanchard and Vincent Scali. These are the years of Ben, of the Di Rosa brothers, of Robert Combas and François Boisrond. Art for everyone, and party for all. Guela follows his intuitions to Ibiza and Barcelona from 1987 to 1993, where he works at the Casa Caritad, which will later become the city's Museum of Modern Art. This colorful and collective delight contrasts with the dark anxieties of our time. Contrary to the widespread dystopia, it was then the utopia that reigned! New York is its epicenter, shaped by Basquiat and Keith Haring. Guela lives there from 1993 to 1998, including several years at the legendary Chelsea Hotel, of which he covers the walls and furniture with Georgian calligraphy. This is where his simplistic, black, and loving figures were born, later becoming his trademark and one of the symbols of Batumi. It was precisely at the end of the 90s that his desire to build bridges between his native country and France became deeper. The Soviet Union died in a burst of freedom, and the Georgians slowly come out of a fratricidal war, fueled by Russia. Georgia needs love, so Guela replaces the flag’s crosses with hearts, following the 2003 Rose Revolution. Since then, convinced that art is the answer to the stress that is still plaguing Georgia, Guela multiplies projects for exhibitions, partnerships, festivals and art centers. He brings several French artists to the Garikula Residency, including Jean Dupuy...

From "Tell me how to behave" series "The simulacrum is not what hides the truth. It is the truth that conceals that there is no truth. The simulation is true " TELL ME HOW TO BEHAVE Series of photographs digitally intervened and road signs transformed (life-size), who wonder about the infinite possibilities, without losing sight of the fact that in all of them. There is the possibility of death. With this in mind, the work seeks to relate to the viewer, in terms of the experience lived, decisions in time, or personal history, which are common to all. The series plays with the presentation of bad possibilities, absurd and impossible, and their relationship with time. "White Flowers" Photography 30"x26" inch Ed. 1/3 by VLADIMIR CLAVIJO-TELEPNEV
By Vladimir Clavijo-Telepnev
Located in Culver City, CA
"White Flowers" Photography 30"x26" inch Ed. 1/3 by VLADIMIR CLAVIJO-TELEPNEV Author's direct print on wood PRINT ON THE WOOD The series is based on the idea to look at the famous literary work from an unorthodox perspective and show the content with the help of visual images. In Vladimir’s view the asexuality of the characters allows, within the given photographic project, to use a “transvestitism approach” with females portraying males. The task was to use a natural female refinement of the heroines. Chronologically-wise the Chekhov’s characters find themselves in the 1920’s and the 1930’s when the very notion “style” was most graphic and fitting. The retro-styling approach used in the series makes the photos both expressive and melancholic at the same time. With all his inherent theatricality and nostalgia the artist puts his post-modernistic compositions in the atmospheres of the years past reproducing long-gone motifs. He shows reality against the background of a “theatrical universe”. Grace Glueck, a prominent art critic for the New York Times newspaper, wrote that Vladimir Clavijo-Telepnyov’s large-scale photos look intriguing and, among other things, the photos have something really theatrical about them as if inspired by the system initiated by the Russian theatrical director of the early 20th century Konstantin Stanislavsky. In a subject called Temptation, the rather spoilt servant Yasha in the role of a tempter portrays a so-called new Russian. The character is expressive and cynical; he is aloof, kind of cheeky and self-satisfied individual quick to elbow old-timers. A tragic theme of old age, helplessness and eventual death of a servant named Firse is solved in the form of diptych with a little girl sitting alone in the corner of a huge empty room. The image of land-owning lady Ranevskaya was quite logically portrayed by Renata Litvinova, an actress, script-writer and film director who had played the same role in the Moscow Art Theater...

"Looking For The Right God" Abstract Painting 59" x 79" in by Patricio Gonzalez From "Looking for Happiness" series LOOKING FOR HAPPINESS Like "el dorado", a cultural construction, a myth, the Looking for happiness series talks about the illusion of happiness. Using coordinates between different geographical points and world views, seeking to generate a dialogue between stories. In this way, places speak to tell us about degraded utopias, religious crusades, martyrs and oppressors, wars, victories, and defeats. All searches for what cannot be found. The infinite existing possibilities, in this continuous present and its accumulation, to be history. The utopian idea of achieving completeness or completeness. The transformation of the fabric into jewelry, the transmutation that moves from the sacred to the economic. The "object of desire" is the engine of life and its different permutations. Curriculum vitae Born on February 14, 1974, Santiago, Chile. Study at the School of Fine Arts of t he University of Chile and the University Complutense Hotels guest, Spain. He also attended workshops in painting, drawing and engraving the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. Work in the study of Guillermo Muñoz Vera, Madrid. Located in Culver City, CA
"GRADIENT_02" Abstract Acrylic painting 39" x 33" by DOT ABOUT THE ARTIST: By compiling concepts from multiple philosophies, DOT’s Art seeks to explore an idea that has developed from different roots. Through the use of repeating geometric patterns enhanced by different color theories. A hallucinatory visual field is created. Thus forcing the viewer's perspective to be pushed into a moment of visual confusion. According to theories in Neuroplasticity, these perspective shifts are catalysts that have the potential to rewire neural pathways and ultimately affect thinking and behavior. Being self-taught DOT leaned into his understanding of scientific concepts and techniques to develop his artistic explorations. In his most recent body of work, a surgical repetition of shifting color fields reflects his curiosities in the space of visual perception. These lines tend to create a static movement...
