Ogham - Green striped abstract painting
By Mark Zimmermann
Located in East Quogue, NY
Green abstract striped painting by Mark Zimmermann- Acrylic and graphite on canvas in artist frame. Signed on back by the artist. Mark Zimmermann's work is based on the fusion of meditative fields, architectonic structures and an organic gestural line that is one-part intentional and one-part accidental. Zimmermann clearly demonstrates his deftness of hand though labored bands of color, building and editing one band upon other, until the editing process renders compositions that combine both hard-edge and action-painting abstraction. In discussing this work, the editor and writer, Larry Qualls noted,“...a majestic landscape narrative... they illuminate the nature of painting itself. In a sense what these paintings do is bring a synthesis of the conceptual and the realistic; it is as if there is the conflux of two grand traditions: the purely abstract and the purely objective.” Mark Zimmermann has exhibited his paintings across the United States and abroad. His work is held in private and public collections such as JW Marriott Essex House...

Love Wins - Rainbow glass pill sculpture
By Edie Nadelhaft
Located in East Quogue, NY
Limited edition rainbow colored glass pill sculpture. Edition of 9. Signed and numbered on the back by the artist. The piece is equipped with a D-ring on the back for easy hanging. "Love Wins" is part of Edie Nadelhaft's "Better Living Thru Chemistry: Luv is the Drug" sculpture series consisting of candy-colored glass and mixed media capsule-shaped objects. Each pill is festooned with text messages, social media iconography and the language of pop psychology. Inspired in equal parts by the ubiquitous presence of social media in contemporary culture and the simultaneous rise of direct - to - consumer pharmaceutical marketing. The work pokes fun at the alternately amusing and depressing correlations between the two phenomena as both are enlisted to oversimplify the human condition and expedite contentment through a familiar cocktail of instant gratification and seductive packaging. Edie Nadelhaft is a New York-based painter and mixed media artist whose work has been widely exhibited at museums, art fairs and galleries. She studied painting and art history at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and S.U.N.Y. Purchase. She received her BFA with Honors from The Massachusetts College of Art & Design. May 27 (8.59pm) - Road landscape painting
By Edie Nadelhaft
Located in East Quogue, NY
Landscape painting, evening road scene titled "May 27 (8.59pm)" by Edie Nadelhaft - oil on canvas, 36 x 48 inches Edie Nadelhaft's paintings focus on the visual nuances and psychological ambiguity of twilight. No people are pictured, but each composition preserves some residue of the human presence, depicting desolate stretches of rural highway, some capped by an apocalyptic canopy of clouds. Rendered in a manner best described as Perceptual Realism, Nadelhaft draws the viewer into the scene, showing just as much - or as little - sharp detail as a human eye can process in person. The point of view and style of painting takes into account the fleeting nature of impressions, especially those formed while driving in low light on unfamiliar roads. In some scenes, light is greatly diminished, but it is not quite dark enough to reap the full benefit of headlights. Buildings, trees and power lines appear and disappear in a murky, shimmering haze; nighttime is fluid, rife with intrigue and for some, even dread. But the dark can also provide a portal to the imagination, opening up new possibilities and potential. And for the artist, it brings an overwhelming sense of wonder and relief. The night - especially traveling at night - offers protection, a respite, like a spell that conjures a brief suspension of responsibility and time as one hurtles through space fully enveloped in the totality of that experience. Realism, landscape painting, landscape, night scape...

Untitled (Ship Harbor)
By Cobi Moules
Located in East Quogue, NY
Winter landscape painting by Cobi Moules - Oil on canvas Exhibition History: "New England Now: People," Shelburne Museum, Vermont (June 26 - October 17, 2021) Driven by the desire for adventure and discovery, Cobi Moules embraces the beauty of nature all the while shifting its weight through the exaltation of his own existence within, and as part, of it. This is best exemplified by the way he incorporates multiple self-portraits throughout his compositions. The multiplicity of self takes both precedence over, as well as integration into, the landscape creating a world with a sense of excitement, self-worth and play. The locations of Moules’ compositions are equally important. All of the locations were previously depicted in paintings by the Hudson River School. Through the exploration of the grand American landscape and the reflection on mid-19th century American landscape painting, Moules navigates the parallels between the Hudson River School and the religious ideology that was an integral part of his formative years. Shared throughout both is the elevation of purity, virginity and the honor of sacrificing one’s selfhood for the glory of God. As the Hudson River School artists’ work embodies the overpowering force of God made manifest through nature, so do the religious voices of Moules’ past against the validation of his existence. Moules states, “As a queer and trans person, I seek to renegotiate my relationship with this upbringing and the act of being told I am ‘unnatural’ through such a Christian lens. I utilize traditional representation as a way of seeking inclusion while disrupting the original narrative. Creating a space for personal significance and a queer and trans presence, the importance becomes the experience of my multiple and overall presence. It is a community of me playing, exploring my selves, exploring nature and being part of it.” Landscape, nature, figurative painting, self portrait, portrait, seascape, coastline, seashore, Hudson River School, contemporary art, Ship Harbor...
