Anemone One, Botanical Painting, Gold Flowers, Leaves, Stem, Buds on Black Panel
By Margot Glass
Located in Kent, CT
This delicate botanical drawing is made with gold acrylic on cradled panel, painted black. The exploration of ephemerality, and the fragility of a wild anemone flower, its leaves, petals and buds are the focus of this painting by Margot Glass. The exquisite beauty of the flower, a member of the buttercup family Ranunculaceae, is discovered and elevated through close examination and exquisite drawing by the artist. Initialed, signed, dated and titled on verso. This series is the result of the artist's wildflower research conducted while hiking along the Pacific coast. Working on a dark ground allows the gleam and luster and delicate reflective silver and gold properties of the metallic medium to present as high tones against the black ground. Glass is interested in the tradition of using nature as idealized ornament in art and design while seeking to observe and represent these plants as accurately as possible in all their irregularity and imperfection. The metallic lines enhance the decorative qualities of the filigree patterns formed by the seed heads and leaf veining. Her compositions are tightly cropped to bring the subject as close to the edge of the picture plane as possible. Margot Glass’s work been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally. Glass’s education includes studies in the Brown/RISD Exchange Program, Brown University...

By Shane McAdams
Located in Kent, CT
In this horizontal landscape painting in ink and oil on paper mounted on panel, the artist's unique ink process creates soft striations of bright pink, dark crimson red, pale yellow and orange at the center of a layered, undulating composition. The result is an abstract landscape suggesting a hilly mountain range, while layers of oil paint and a soft, faint background create depth within the surface. Signed, dated and titled on verso. Shane McAdams’ work is about landscape in the broadest sense. The artist grew up in the desert southwest...

Frozen Falls, Long Hanging Sculpture of Torch-Worked Glass in Chain Maille Links
By David Licata
Located in Kent, CT
This long hanging sculpture by David Licata is composed of square links of clear and white torch-worked borosilicate glass. The square links are joined together in a Japanese four-to-one chain maille pattern, cascading downward from three clear glass tubes suspended from the ceiling by clear monofilament wire. The result is an ethereal, delicate work that casts dynamic shadows on its surroundings and glistens in light. Transforming rods of borosilicate glass with fire, David Licata uses a variety of gas torches to pull, stripe, blend, twist and bend glass into ornate links which are transformed into an elaborate wall sculptures of undulating glass. Licata who is exceptionally knowledgeable and adept at creating historic chaine maille patterns often bases his contemporary artwork in that tradition. Licata’s sculptures explore the ideas of protection inherant in chain maille and linked fencing in contradiction to the implicit fragility of glass. Variously transparent and opaque, solid and ephemeral, his glass sculptures are solid forms and also cast shadows that are fugitive and integral parts of the artwork. David Licata’s work ranges from cascading glass wall sculptures to wearable chain maille. A devoted naturalist, he is inspired by hiking and the outdoors. The artist works with notions of the fragility, strength, vanity, and protection by using traditional metalsmithing techniques in the intricate torch-worked glass. David Licata is a graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art where he earned his MFA in Metalsmithing and of SUNY New Paltz where he earned his BFA in Sculpture and BS in Art Education. Licata’s artwork has been exhibited at SOFA (The Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design fair) NY, SOFA Chicago, Glass Weekend, Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, Millville, NJ, Talente Internationale Handwerksmesse, Munich Germany and The Glass Art Society Conference and Fashion Show in Murano, Italy. Low Tide, Hanging Sculpture, Blue, Violet Torch-Worked Glass Chain Maille Links
By David Licata
Located in Kent, CT
This hanging sculpture by David Licata is composed of square links of torch-worked borosilicate glass in shades of blue from dark cobalt at the top, pale translucent violet in the middle and clear links at the bottom. The square links are joined together in a Japanese four-to-one chain maille pattern, cascading downward from two cobalt glass tubes supported by two metal brackets that can be installed in the wall. There are four layers of chain maille links in different variations of cobalt blue, violet and clear. The result is a layered, ethereal, delicate work that casts dynamic shadows on its surroundings and glistens in light. Transforming rods of borosilicate glass with fire, David Licata uses a variety of gas torches to pull, stripe, blend, twist and bend glass into ornate links which are transformed into an elaborate wall sculptures of undulating glass. Red Pink on Gold, Botanical Silkscreen Print, Dark Coral Flowers, Bright Yellow
By Nancy Blum

Columbine: The Mystery of Five Doves, Layered Images of Flowers in Violet Blue
By Lisa A. Frank
Located in Kent, CT
This botanical photograph features flowers, butterflies, and doves in an abstracted composition. Shades of violet and blue stand out brightly against the darkened background, and blurred images of butterflies suggest movement in contrast to the still flowers. Edition 2 of 15. Printed on archival Simply Elegant Gold Fiber Paper 310gsm, mounted on Sintra with non-glare plexiglas. Lisa A. Frank’s large-scale photographs are kaleidoscopic multilayered images of the natural world. The work’s complex patterns are composed from the artist’s deep archive of her own photographs; the images are digitally collaged and arranged in patterns that take cues from historic wallpaper designs. Densely ornamental, the work draws upon the artist's background as a textile designer as well as the interior decoration documents of Britain’s Aesthetic...
