1980s Green Canopy Bed and Chest of Drawers Dark Lacquer for Sormani, Italy
By Davide Pizzigoni & Manolo De Giorgi, Sormani, Marco Comolli
Located in Arosio, IT
Canopy bed An unusual canopy bed, named Fauno, manufactured by Sormani in very dark green (almost black) glossy lacquer, with 4 columns in grey nextel and a metal canopy in light apple green. The bed has multifunctional structures all around: two trays that work as night tables, one front tray that works as further support (for a TV-screen, for instance), and a back shelf of 17cm (6" 11/16) for your favorite books. All "trays" are adjustable as seen in pictures and can be also adjusted in height. The bed includes a wooden bed slat (see picture) with a metal frame, and a provisional mattress, while you buy your own favorite. Mattress size should be cm 160x200x20-25 (63 in × 79 in x ca. 9" 27/32). Size of bed: H 225 x W 175 x D 235 cm (7' 4" 37/64 x 5' 8" 57/64 x 7' 8" 33/64) Size of trays: cm 47 x 32 (1' 6" 1/2 x 1' 19/32). Height of bed (without mattress) cm 40 (1' 3" 3/4) Commode Chest of drawers in very dark green lacquer (the famous 20-gloss silky mat lacquer of Sormani) with six spacious drawers: two in elegant salmon lacquer, standing out with a colorful touch and four in dark green. Please note the skillful shape of each drawer front: a triangular shape with a recessed, convex upper part. In its simplicity, a real work of craftsmanship for an Industrial manufacturer such as Sormani of Arosio, Italy. Size of commode: cm H 78 W 160 D 52 (H 2' 6" 45/64 x W 5' 2" 63/64 x D 1' 8" 15/32) Perfect for the entrance or the bedroom of a sleek city apartment or even for a contemporary mountain hut. 1967 Salocchi White Mirrored Vanity with Light and Tilting Top Sormani, Italy
By Sormani, Claudio Salocchi
Located in Arosio, IT
This is an original piece of 1967, that was meant to be put in the middle of a room, thus its name "centro". It is a white cube with a tilt-top that turns into a mirror with a built-in light on two sides. Size is cm 59 H x 81 x 81 (ft: H 1' 11" 15/64 x 2' 7" 57/64 x 2' 7" 57/64). Even the two light bulbs are still the original ones, perfectly functioning. A transformer must be applied for US plugging. All drawers (4 rotating on the back and two on the front) work perfectly. The finish is slightly damaged on the lower back drawers (shows some not very noticeable swelling) and one of the front drawers has a slightly different hue (due to light and time). All the hardware and the tilting hardware in chrome-stained brass are perfect. Amina was a disruptive series of extremely contemporary containers for the home, envisaged by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani in the mid-1960s. It was the first series of totally white, squared furniture for the living- dining- and bedroom of international level. Almost a scandal for an era still tied to traditional wooden finishes and shapes. From scandal to success, this chest of drawers or coiffeuse was displayed with the rest of the collection of beds, tables, modular shelving units, in several movies of the early Seventies such as "L'Invasion" of Yves Allergret, with Michel Piccoli and Lisa Gastoni. The piece comes with a certificate of provenance on original Sormani letterhead. Please check also LU3681116076542 to have a matching ensemble

Space Age White Italy Dresser Vanity Table Lacquer Wood Fibreglass
By MB Italy
Located in Valladolid, ES
One of a kind dressing table, space age style, 70s, with great influence of Art Deco aesthetics. In white lacquered wood, with a black marble effect fiberglass top. Large circular mirror in the upper part and the storage part is divided into two drawers on each side. With lighting in the upper and lower fin shapes. A piece of great sophistication and glamour, very difficult to find. It has a plate with the name of the Italian manufacturer DBM. The period known as the Space Age or Space Age was the post Atomic Age, that is, the late 50's and early 70's. It is part of the “stylings” that reigned in the US during the 20th century. The concept of an optimistic world based on a possible "Earth of Tomorrow" reigned by the dominance of atomic energy and space travel. This "Styling" is inspired by the North American space race, but above all, the aesthetics based on Science Fiction, space satellites, helmets, ships, the effect of weightlessness and a "cinematic" proposal of a new style. of life of the future. Movies like Barbarella 1968, James Bond, Space Odyssey 2001...

Lam Lee Memphis Style Silver and Gold Leaf Dresser Lingerie Chest
By Ettore Sottsass
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Equally beautiful as anything hanging in the Guggenheim and deserved the respect. Exquisitely crafted by Lam Lee. Covered from head to toe in a mix of gold leaf, silver leaf and hand painted lacquer designs. The faux coral wood pulls are so convincingly organic that you have to touch them to believe it's not actually shell. Deep drawers on metal glides are interior lined in black velvet. It's not easy to categorize this look, so we sent a pic to the scientists at NASA (not really), they crunched some numbers and here's the completely arguable composition breakdown. 50% Memphis 20% Neo deco...
