11thC Bronze Buddha- Pyu/Pagan Burma Rare, Powerful Ancient- TL Test! - 8439

One of my all-time favorites out of more than 10 thousand of Buddhas I have owned over the past 3+ decades. I believe this is a transitional piece that is late-Pyu and contemporary with the Pagan period, although I have never seen another like it. See attached Oxford TL test which dates it at up to 800 years old. YES- it really IS that green-the photos are accurate. Probably the ones that show the color the closest are the one with the ruler in it, and the two showing the recently made custom base. The two with the base were taken with a different camera. It is extremely large for its type. I've had several experts who have been amazed by this piece, as they have studied and collected Burmese sculpture...

Amazing personality to this very early (pre-Tang) bronze Buddhist "angel" from a huge and elaborate back-plate from a Buddhist altar from 5th/6thC. The quality and face are superb. Close to 2 3/4 inches tall and 2 5/8 wide. 4 inches tall on custom stand. This and all the other parts would have each been individually cast and attached by loops (its loop is still there, being used to attach to stand) on back of angel to back-plate. This piece is small, but extremely rare, early, finely done, and loaded with personality. One of the rarest and most museum-worthy Chinese pieces...
