Rosewood 1960's Conference Table Desk by Theo Tempelman for A.P. Originals

US$2,558.79

About

Rosewood conference table, dining room table, desk designed in 1960 by Dutch designer Theo Tempelman for the Dutch AP. Originals (Abraham Polak). The table has a beautiful rosewood table top, finished with solid rosewood edges, and rests on a chrome-plated steel profile frame with an open seam and has a black double cross connection. A. Polak's Furniture Industry was founded in the mid-1950s by the textile merchant and furniture manufacturer Abraham Polak and his wife Evi Polak. The firm was located in Hilversum and had a showroom in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In addition to Artifort, Gispen, "t Spectrum and De Cirkel, AP was one of the few Dutch furniture factories that focused on innovative design with freelance designers during this time. Designers Hein Salomonson and Pierre Paulin delivered the first designs around 1956. Shortly afterwards Paulin would start working for Artifort and acquire his great fame there. Bauhaus designer professor Herbert Hirche, French designer Jacques Hitier and Danish designers Søren Nissen and Ebbe Gehl also designed for Polak. The furniture was sold under the name "AP Originals" by high end "good furniture stores" such as De Bijenkorf, Bas Van Pelt and Metz & Co.
