Jean Louis Scherrer, haute couture, un- labelled, circa 1985 Absolutely couture! this superb plastic and wool fancy tweed like cloth by bucol, the beautiful weaving embroidered by lemarié with black and white and white ostrich feathers, entirely lined with black silk satin, Sporty look, padded shoulders, it figured at the time in the couture magazines worn with a black jumper and a grey and white tweed pair of trousers... Approx. US size 6 Born in 1935, Jean Louis Scherrer worked with Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent before opening his own house in 1962. In 1971 he became a haute Couture house and established himself, 51 avenue Montaigne. Jackie kennedy was one of his clients... Magnifique veste sept huitième dans un très beau tissage avec fil plastifié noir, sur trame blanche, la veste entièrement re brodée par Lemarié de plumes d'autruche blanche et blanches et noires, entièrement doublé de satin de soie noir, Allure sport, épaulé, présenté à l'origine avec un pantalon en tweed gris et un pull noir.. Approx. taille F 38 Né le 19 février 1935 à Paris, Jean-Louis Scherrer se destine d’abord au métier de danseur professionnel, une carrière artistique qu’il ne poursuivra pas à cause d’une mauvaise chute. En 1956, fraichement diplômé de la Chambre syndicale de la couture parisienne, le créateur entre chez Dior en tant que styliste. Le jeune designer apprend la technique de la haute couture au contact de l’inventeur du New Look puis travaille avec Yves Saint Laurent après le décès de Christian Dior en 1957. C’est en 1962 que le couturier se lance et crée la marque Jean-Louis Scherrer au 182, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Il expose sa première collection de robes de cocktail fleuries et à pois dans une cave à vin en 1963. L’année 1971 marque un tournant dans sa carrière lorsque la maison est classée haute couture. Jean-Louis Scherrer ouvre la même année un nouvel espace au 51 avenue Montaigne et réalise ainsi un de ses rêves. Le motif léopard, la jupe à pois, les épaules marquées ou encore la taille écrasée définissent le style très graphique du créateur qui a séduit des clientes comme Jackie Kennedy ou encore l’actrice Michèle Morgan. La maison se lance dans la création de parfum en 1979 puis une ligne de fourrure et une ligne d’accessoires voient le jour en 1992. Cette année-là, le créateur quitte la maison, qui fermera ensuite ses portes en 2008.
