About the Item
Early Nineteenth century
Japan
A collectible Kimono coat for a Japanese dignitary, Edo period, in lampas lined with wool coat of arms dating from the early 19th century. Beautiful 18th century lamé lampas predominantly rusty cream and green, with silver thread weft. Kimono cut with slit at the back, lined with a green woolen cloth with a black velvet coat of arms highlighted with golden threads embroidered in chain stitch. Wide high collar and fastening tabs in trimmings, one of which is buttoned. Gold lamé bias piping around the edge of the coat. Lampas slightly streaked and patinated in places, but good overall structure. No holes or stains. Very good condition of color and conservation.
Measurement: French equivalent size 40. Height 110 cm, Shoulders 47 cm, collar 61 cm, sleeves 59 cm, hem circumference of the coat 130 cm.
