About the Item
Circa 1805
France Premier Empire period
Frockcoat and waistcoat in brown wool complete with its chased steel buttons from a famous family of the French Premier Empire. Suit with tail, high collar, bent sleeves and lapel cuffs, complete with polished steel diamond buttons. Matching waistcoat with ten buttons, back in cream cotton. Underlined with piping in cream silk twill, matching the inner lining and pockets with crenellated cut-outs adorned with buttons. Provenance Montmorency family. Unmodified ensemble with its quilted lining on the bust (halos on the lining), and rare scratches on the wool sheet and cream silk piping, note the slight oxidation of the steel buttons. No major defects apart from a natural patina of the materials. . Good general condition in terms of colour and conservation given its age.
Dimensions: French size equivalent 12-14 years. Shoulders 28 cm, sleeves 73 cm, chest 100 cm, waist 98 cm, back height 103 cm.
