About the Item

Historially, St. John Knits brand has appealed to ladies with a classic sensibility and rather traditional tastes ... this jazzy 1970's dark brown evening dress is an early departure! The crochet style shoulder and sleeves provide a slinky bohemian look reminiscent of Jane Fonda in Klute and can be worn fully buttoned or loosened a bit for a little va-va-voom. Of course the design elements that women have loved about St. John are still present and accounted for, including the unique rayon and wool blended knitwear perfected by Marie Gray that travels well and offers wrinkle proof wear and an overall elegance enhanced by rhinestone embellished gold tone buttons and belt. This particular St. John design can truly be considered a 'modern classic' as it would be equally stunning at a black tie event or taken less seriously for a casual at-home cocktail party. Very good vintage condition. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The size is unmarked though the dress best fits a modern size 4 with attention to the following measurements which were taken without stretching the knitwear though there is stretch to allow for curves and ease of movement. For a visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4. Bust 32" Waist 29" Hips 36" Sleeve Length From Underarm to Cuff 17" Shoulder Length Taken Across Back From Sleeve Seam to Seam 12.75" Length From Shoulder to Hem 55" Length From Shoulder to Waist 15" The belt buckle measures 2.5" wide x 2" tall and the knit belt measures 1.25" wide. Altogether, the belt with buckle measures 27" from end to end.
