About the Item

This psychedelic gem of a dress was designed by Colin Glascoe in the early 1970s. Glascoe was a resort wear specialist whose spectacular prints took inspiration from Italian stained glass and the patterns of 1920 fabrics. This above the knee dress is cut from bright aqua jersey printed with neon florals to an attention-grabbing, kaleidoscopic pattern so indicative of this era. It has a high neckline and voluminous bell-sleeves and is tailored to a flowing, shift shape. The cuffs and neckline are smothered in circular iridescent sequins and sunny, pale yellow flower-shaped sequins. Fastening at the back with a hidden aqua-toned zip and two hook-and-eye fastenings. The brand label has wonderful 1970s' graphics and reads “Colin Glascoe”, “Ban-Lon” and “Liberty of London prints”, a reference to the famous London department store Liberty where Glascoe bought his fabrics. This dress is unlined. Presented in excellent vintage condition, this dress has no flaws. The composition label reads “100% Bri-Nylon”. The size label states UK 16, Hips: 39”-41”, Bust: 37”-39”. The Circa team love this dress and it will comfortably fit sizes UK 12 - 16 or US 8-12. MEASUREMENTS: BUST - 42 in. (107 cm) WAIST - 40 in. (102 cm) HIP - 48 in. (122 cm) LENGTH - 36.5 in (93 cm)
